Big, bold and bouncy, this McLaren Vale Shiraz shows its sense of place with the nose of milk chocolate and blueberry.

Ripe plum and cherries with hints of spice, especially white pepper & aniseed. Medium bodied with notes of plum, cherry, red berries and liquorice. Maturation in oak adds a layer of richness; dark chocolate and lifted oak combine with fine tannins to create excellent length.

<p>Deep and dark purple in colour. Aromas of plums, mulberry and violets with hints of anise and chocolate, along with some background oak spice.</p> <p>Has flavours of spiced plums and blackcurrant, the wine is full flavoured and shows fresh dark berry fruit, some cloves and chocolate characters, and a lingering finish.</p>

Utilising the winemaking talents of Larry Cherubino and over 40 years of winemaking experience himself, Robert Oatley lends his name to this McLaren Vale Shiraz that has all the hallmarks of an exceptional regional example. Matured for 10 months in French oak and sourced from fruit from around the sub-region of Blewitt Springs, this Shiraz is opulent, fleshy and textured with flavours of blueberries and spice with a lingering, soft finish.

Its brightly fruited and beautifully lifted on the nose, showing dark plum, tar, floral, clove and assorted nut aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's juicy and plump. Attractively composed and harmonious with a lengthy silky finish

If we’re honest, there’s not a single reason that we don’t love Sidewood. They’re far from being one-trick ponies (although everyone can find a favourite in their range). Whether it be sensational sparkling, succulent sauvignon blanc, perfect pinot noir, or shining chardonnay. This time, the spotlight is on the shiraz. Selected fruit, estate crafted, 100% french oak treatment through fermentation and 15 months maturation, before final barrel selection is undergone. No stone left unturned, no drop of wine slips by without quality assured. To simply say this overdelivers doesn’t do it justice: this excels in its own category and ones above.

Aromas of violets, black berries, cloves. The palate shows mulberries, blueberry, choc-mint biscuits. A touch of malbec brings some brown earth and provides a rustic edge to the tannin. Still very soft and juicy, delicious and youthful drinkingwhich was the aim, even from older vines.
