This Premier Cru is found mid-slope on the border between Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. The slope is very regular at between 3% and 6% and the soil is clay limestone with red earth. The subsoil is a mixture of earth and flat volcanic rock which allows an extensive root system to develop. These conditions bring finesse and a touch of minerality to the wine.

Delamotte was found in 1760 and is one of the five oldest Champagne houses. Based in the Grand Cru Village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Cote des Blancs, the house is reknowned for the delicacy and elegance of their cuvees. A 100% Chardonnay from six select Grand Cru vineyards in the Cotes des Blancs: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger brings fine acidity, minerality, and saline characters; Avize brings balance and structure; Oger brings generosity and fruit expression; Cramant brings minerality and smoky complexity, Chouilly structure and length, and Oiry the texture, body, and roundness. With six years of ageing on lees, this cuvee is characterised by its pure, direct, and intense flavours of citrus flavours, saline notes, and complex notes of freshly baked brioche. This Champagne will easily enhance a range of dishes, from oysters to beef tartare, and will comfortably age for another decade.

The estate spans almost 200 hectares, 66 of which are certified organic. Precision, power and freshness are the signature characteristics behind every Brocard wine. The Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre vineyards lie on the right-hand side of the valley. Definitely the most complete Premier Cru, it offers a concentration of minerality, floral notes and complexity and has wonderful cellaring potential. Pale yellow with green glints, with aromas of lemon, yellow fruit, orange peel and green peppercorn. Flavours of orange and lemon zest can be found on the palate, supported by a dense, structured mouthfeel with wonderful persistence.

The slopes of the Vaudésir valley are steep and allow the grapes to express refined minerality. Appearance: Yellow with green glints. Nose: Precise and charming with toasted brioche aromas and orange and lemon notes. Palate: Refined and velvety with buttery notes. A powerful and persistent wine.

Precision, strength and freshness are words that form the signature of Brocard's winemaking philosophy. The domain is among the most important of Chablis. Brocard wines represent the higher end of expression at each quality level. The Chablis Grand Cru Valmur forms a valley which offers subtle variations in terms of exposure: one part faces northwest and the other the south. With a well-balanced mineral character, the Valmur is imposing through its strength and surprising fruitiness. The wine comprises of 100% Grand Cru chardonnay, aged in old French oak for 14 months. A multitude of flavours can be discovered, including lemon, pepper, brioche, licorice and toast with mineral strength underpinning all.

Jean Noel Gagnard handed his eponymous Domaine to his daughter Caroline Lestimé in 1989. She had studied business in Paris, before returning to the village to take over the reins of the family estate, and had to handle male chauvinism at its most rampant. Nonetheless, she has followed her own convictions, and enhanced (rather than diminished) the reputation of this fine producer. Aged for 18 months on lees in 228L oak barrels (1/3 new). Caroline Lestime describes the 2016 wine as, sorbet with good freshness and a delicate lightness to its feet.

The JNG parcel, barely more than one hectare facing south-east at 300-310m at the southern end... gives a beautifully balanced, precise wine with marvellous purity of fruit and a long crisp finish (Norman & Taylor, Great Domaines of Burgundy).

The flagship white wine from Hardy's, the Eileen Hardy has become one of Australia's benchmark Chardonnays. Complex, elegant and very much cool climate in style it drinks superbly now and will only improve.

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is the finest expression of the world famous wine from one of the greatest Champagne Houses. First produced in 1952, Comtes is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from 6 Grand Cru sites in the Cité de Blancs. Showing a pristine pale yellow colour with very light, abundant bubbles which rise uniformly to form a fine mousse. The evocative bouquet opens with notes of pears and fresh cute white flowers. Left in the glass for a time, the nose develops a richness and density of pure character. Once on the palate, Comtes is lively, direct and precise with flavours of candied lemon zest and fresh pineapple. The balance is something to behold. This Champagne's marriage of finesse and aromatic intensity is a promise of further potential, but already offers very pleasurable drinking.
