The Chauveau family have been making wine since the 19th Century, and in the mid 1990s Benoit Chauveau gradually took over the vineyards of his grandparents and parents. Today, their property has over 17 hectres including of Pouilly Fumé, Pouilly sur Loire and Coteaux du Giennois. A new cellar was added to the estate for the 2012 harvest. Their approach is to continually strive to improve the quality of their wines through the development of sustainable methods. Located just opposite the Pouilly Fumé designation, on the other side of the Loire, the Sancerre designation is also known for the quality of its white wine, 100% Sauvignon. Benoît Chauveau Sancerre has a very pale yellow colour with greenish tints. Vivacious and bursting with fruit, dominant floral and fruity aromas. The crisp attack gives way to a rich, rounded palate for a finale full of freshness. Sancerre makes a delightful aperitif. It is also perfect with grilled fish, seafood, scallops and white meats. A great match for Crottin de Chavignol AOC goat cheeses from the Centre region.

Pascal Reverdy’s domaine is based in the tiny hamlet of Maimbray. Maimbray is located in a valley surrounded by chalk hills adjacent to Chavignol and Verdigny. From their small cellar they produce one of France’s most highly awarded Sancerres’. Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. Aromas of lime and green apple infused with fresh herbs drift from the glass trailed by some light grassy and stony mineral scents. Lime and green apple fruits abound on the intensely flavoured palate underscored by fresh acidity. Good textural volume in the mouth with herbaceous grassy characters and stony mineral elements lying underneath. The dry, refreshing finish showing ample length. Drink over the next 3-4 years. A lovely and unusual Sauvignon Blanc from Hawkes Bay. It is barrel-fermented with a touch of Semillon and Sauvignon Gris. This wine has aromas of citrus blossom, pear and stone fruit and will evolve in the bottle for five years from harvest.

Domaine Benoît Pouilly Fumé is a dry white wine, made from 100 % Sauvignon grapes and produced only by the Domaine’s own vineyards. It is vinified, bottled at the domain and marketed by us in France and in about twenty countries. The 2020 vintage is pale, crystalline yellow with green tints. Racy nose combining citrus fruits, delicate minerality and blackcurrant bud. Well-balanced, light, tense palate revealing great quality aromatics with restrained exuberance. Lovely clean characters and precision. Pouilly Fumé makes a delightful aperitif. It is also perfect with seafood, fish both grilled and in sauce, scallops and white meats.

Bright straw colour with a watery hue. Aromas of gooseberry and citrus mix with grassy asparagus characters and smoky flint like notes. Nicely rounded yet fresh in the mouth, herbaceous gooseberry, citrus and asparagus flavours overlay grassy and gun smoke infused back drop. Finishes dry with lively acidity that lends tension and mid length aftertaste. Drink over the next 1-2 years. Alc. 13%

Cloudy Bay Te Koko is an individual expression of the sauvignon blanc grape, a complex and savoury wine that is both deliciously aromatic and richly textured. It is a full-bodied, alternative style of sauvignon blanc. Aromas of lemon thyme, mandarin blossom and stonefruit combine harmoniously with ginger spice and nutty and savoury tones, underlined by exotic tropical notes.
