When Giuseppe and Pietro Simi immigrated to Northern California, they settled in Sonoma County because it reminded them of their native Tuscany where wine had been made for centuries. In 1876, they founded SIMI in Healdsburg, California. Today, there still making wine from diverse Sonoma County grapes in the same stone cellar built in 1890. The palate is zesty with fresh flavours of tangerine, lemon curd, stone fruit, white peach and nectarine framed by sweet toast and vanilla followed with wet-stone minerality and orange peel on the finish. With every pour the artwork will appear as the liquid in the bottle gets lower and lower.

Stockyard takes its name from the 100+ year old stone ruin on our Farms vineyard. Originally a slaughterhouse, today it occupies a much more serene position overlooking rows of low-yielding Shiraz vines. Seductive aromas of blackberry, plum and liquorice with savoury white spice on the nose, the palate is rich and concentrated with dark fruit flavours. The spice carries through to the palate, backed by intensely powerful tannins and integrated oak characters from eighteen months maturation in new and one-year old French and American hogsheads. This wine will benefit from careful cellaring for 5 years and beyond.
