Displays classic Chardonnay characters of white peach, nectarine and fresh figs. The palate is fresh and vibrant with fruit flavours of citrus and white peach. Maturation in French oak provides subtle nutmeg and clove characters on the palate, while a clean slatey acid backbone provides length and structure to the wine. The wine is complex with no single character dominating the wine. The flavour of the wine persists long after it has left the mouth.

Eden Valley’s Mountadam Vineyards was established in 1972 and is nestled on a unique rocky outcrop ranging in elevation up to 550m. The vineyards were founded by David Wynn, who is credited with several milestones in winemaking, including the creation of the wine cask and planting the first contour vineyard in Australia. “More concentrated. More intense. A firmer weave of coffee grind and clove to bitter chocolate-doused tannins, too, with a darker fruit persuasion than its sassier brethren. More typically Australian, I suppose. The Angaston Road Growers range is all about honouring the often unsung heroes of the wine world, the growers. It is their intimate knowledge of the local terroir, the changes of season, and the varietals they tend to that ensure the special parcels of fruit that make it to the winery are in tip-top form to make quality wines like this stunning Sauvignon Blanc. The wine recognises Rae Clark, a proud vigneron who has been working in the wine industry for around 30 years. She is a passionate advocate for improving biodiversity through sustainable vineyard practices in her home region of Coonawarra. And when it came to finding the best selection of Sauvignon Blanc for this new wine, the winemakers knew instantly to reach out to Rae. Aromas of passionfruit, pineapple and other tropical delights leap from the glass, backed up by a palate of spritely guava and gooseberry with a lively citrus finish.

On release, the wine has a complex aroma. Lifted yellow peach and nectarine characters dominate. Subtle spice and creamy characters add to the wines aromatic complexity. The palate is restrained and elegant. It displays the same fruit characters of peach and nectarine through-out. The mid and back palates are driven by a gentle line of lemon-like acid. Mountadam was first setup in 1972 by the late David Wynn, a pioneer of the wine industry an founder of Wynns Coonawarra Estate. Wynn made the winery famous on the back of superb cool climate wines, supported by his son Adam (who the winery is named after). Adam held onto the winery until 2002 when it was sold to luxury goods business LVMH. The winery returned to family hands again in 2006 when it was purchased by South Australian farmer and accountant David Brown and his wife Jenni. In late 2015 the Browns acquired the second High Eden vineyard established by Wynn. The two vineyards are dissected by High Eden road. The Brown family are keen to continue Wynn's vision to produce wines of elegance and structure. A focus on sustainable low input viticulture will guarentee the success of the vineyards into the future. From 2015, Helen McCarthy has steered the ship as Chief Winemaker.

The Burge family planted their roots in the Barossa Valley in the 1800s inspiring generations of devoted vignerons. Siblings Trent and Amelia Burge are sixth-generation Barossans. This rising star estate marries the family name with that of the family’s grand 1845 Corryton Park Homestead in Eden Valley. Their father, who mentors the enterprise, is none other than Barossa winemaking legend, Grant Burge. The Grenache revival is in full swing especially in the Barossa Valley where Cabernet Sauvignon and other varieties are being pulled out in favour of this slightly lighter bodied grape. Grenache was once prevalent here, providing fruit for the region's extensive production of fortified wines, and hence the existence of some of the oldest Grenache vines in the world! However, with an increasing market for slightly lighter, more accessible styles of red, Grenache is a 'new' rising star both in pure form and as here in fabulous GSMblends. As in France, especially in the Rhône Valley, Grenache is often blended with Shiraz to add a little weight in the mouth, and with Mataro to give the wine structure.
