The wine reflects the slate and granite soils with strong mineral notes, and fruit flavours of blackberry, Morello cherry. Complex deeper notes of earth and cured meats bring the palate to a long and evenly weighted finish. Strikingly beautiful, the wine shows perfumed aromas of dark plum, mulberry, thyme, clove and roasted hazelnut on the nose, leading to a beautifully refined palate that’s silky and flowing. The Linder family established St Hallett Winery in 1944. For over 70 years they have built a reputation as specialists in Barossa Shiraz. The team at St Hallett, headed up by Stuart Blackwell and Toby Barlow, have done a fantastic job with this shiraz, choosing the best grapes from the vineyards to create a wine that is lush with great depth of flavour.

This new and exclusive Trophy winning Shiraz is a high quality, single vineyard Shiraz from Barossa Valley icon, Château Tanunda. An opulent, full-bodied wine with lifted aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cracked black pepper supported by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate. The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins from maturation in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak barrels. The Château Tanunda Mattiske Road Shiraz 2015 was awarded the Trophy for Best 2015 Shiraz at the 2016 Marananga Wine Show. Gold Medal and 95 Points at Barossa Wine Show 2017.

St Hallett Mighty Ox Shiraz (Magnum) St Halletts Mighty Ox Shiraz is a new icon for the heritage Barossa label. It is a decadent, classic style of Barossa Shiraz, saturated with black fruit and fit for many decades of cellaring.Fruit for this wine is sourced from several sites in the Northern Barossa, in Ebenezer, Greenock, and Moppa Hills. Bold and strong, it is named for the oxen that were once used to plough the soils of the Barossa. All parcels for this wine are treated individually, then spend 8 to 12 days of warm fermentation on skins. It is aged in American oak. The result is a full bodied showstopper, luscious and driving on the palate. The fruit intensity here is immense, with oak nuances teeming with vanilla and dark chocolate. The finish is incredibly long.

Located in High Eden, a sub-region of the Barossa, approximately 550 metres above sea level, Mountadam was originally established in 1972 by the late David Wynn for his winemaking son Adam. Since 2005, it has returned to being a family owned and run winery, with David and Jenni Brown overseeing its success. With Phil Lehmann, the son of Peter Lehmann, as chief winemaker, they are going from strength-to-strength. High Eden’s chilly heights lead to harvests up to a month later than those in neighbouring Eden Valley. The result is gorgeous Cabernet like this, full of dark fruit and chocolate.

When it comes to the quality and price ($320 a bottle!) of this outstanding Shiraz, the term Super Premium is an understatement. The story of this winery began in, you guessed it, 1847. After the proclamation of a land grant by the Governor for the historic Rowland Flat property, Bavarian immigrant Johann Gramp planted what was the first commercial vineyard in the Barossa Valley. 1847 winery now encompasses some 200 acres of premium estate vineyards. “There's a bright, spicy crunch to the best of '17 Barossa shiraz. This is a refreshingly medium-bodied style laced with red cherries, greengage plums and a hint of black pepper. This Shiraz is dark red with amazing purple hues, it has aromas of blackberry and pepper, and is a flavour bomb of sweet black fruit.
