The Willunga 100 'The Hundred' range exemplifies the diversity in style that can be achieved with McLaren Vale Grenache by focusing on single vineyard wines from some of the region's finest sub-zones. The dry grown bush vines for this single vineyard Grenache were planted in 1952 on ancient sandy soil is over a clay and ironstone base. The Trott vineyard is situated 21Om above sea level, on the moderate to steep hills of Blewitt Springs next to the Onkaparinga Gorge.

51% Touriga and 49% Tempranillo. Although both quite tannic varieties, winemaker Peter Leask has crafted a youthful yet surprisingly supple drop. Delicious!Deep red to crimson. Fragrant nose of violets, blackberry, mulberry, tobacco and vanilla. This wine presents a deep garnet hue. Fragrances of cranberry, red currant, cassis and herbs leap out of the wine glass. The palate shows classic Cabernet elements. Ripe flavours of cherry, cranberry and cassis integrate with vanilla oak and cedar. Balanced by firm tannins, the wine leads to a persistent and mouth filling finale. This wine can be cellared for a period of 6 to 8 years.

YANGARRA ESTATE VINEYARD Kings Wood Shiraz Shiraz, McLaren Vale

Intense, textured and showing pure fruit flavours, Jester Shiraz is considered Mitolo's baby G.A.M Shiraz using the same barrels in which the G.A.M was previously aged in. The palate is full of bright, red berry flavours, a subtle herbal character and an overall savoury quality to the finish. Made to be upfront and approachable for early appreciation, the Jester Shiraz delivers excellent quality for the price.

While certainly lighter, more elegant, and a different style to that of some of previous years, the 2011 vintage is one of the greatest Grenache vintages Yangarra has ever produced. The white pepper spice is telling of such a cool year, and is married with bright cherries and raspberry alongside complex hints of liquorice, chicory and cured meats. The tannins are fine and delicate, and the acidity alike.
