The Glendronach Single #1769 28 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Established in 1826 by James Allardice the Glendronach distillery was one of the first licensed distilleries in Scotland. The GlenDronach is borne of the landscape and natural ingredients that surround, from the soft Highland water drawn from the underwater springs in the Balnoon hills to the Scottish malted barley sourced from our trusted partners. The hallmark of the distillery is the marriage of robust Highland spirit with the finest Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucia in Spain. This exquisite duality brings exceptional depth, complexity, and character to their whiskies. Each year Master Distiller, Billy Walker, specially selects a handful of individual cask from the warehouse at GlenDronach Distillery, to be bottled as the GlenDronach 'Limited Release'. With maturing whiskies dating back as far as 1968, there is a vast selection of barrels, hogsheds, puncheons and butts to choose from. Each of the casks display truly remarkable characteristic - the malt whisky contained within having developed exceptionally during the long maturation process. Individually numbered by hand, each vintage release is an exclusive one-off, with only a limited number of bottles available. These exceptional expressions are a fantastic representation of the style of whiskies maturing in the GlenDronach Distillery warehouses, and are smooth, well balanced and tremendously complex. Each dram is guaranteed to delight and inspire. This single cask was matured in Oloroso casks for 28 years. A deep walnut brown in colour, aromas of raisins, cinnamon and crème caramel. On the palate are more raisins, muscatels, walnuts and of course rich sherry flavours, with Christmas spices of cinnamon and cloves. Bottle Information Distilled - 25/02/1994 Bottled - 2023 Cask Number - 1769 Bottles Produced - 692 Cask Type - Olorosso Sherry Puncheon

The Dalmore 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

For over 150 years, the Dalmore has set the standard in multi cask maturation. Hand selected casks, from the world's finest bodegas and wineries are expertly curated to create a sumptuous and layered whisky of legendary finesse. The 2023 release of The Dalmore 21 Year Old was initially matured in American oak casks and finished in first-fill Matusalem oloroso sherry butts. The casks used to finish this exceptional dram were specially selected by Dalmore’s Richard Paterson. They rested for decades at González Byass in Jerez, where they were used to mature 30-year-old Matusalem Olorosso Sherry, before making the long journey to the Scottish Highlands. This is not the easiest way to source a whisky cask, but the extra effort makes perfect sense when the Dalmore 21 Year Old hits your glass. Seville oranges, bitter chocolate and Colombian coffee tantalise on the nose, while sweet liquorice, black forest fruits and roasted walnuts delight the palate, finishing with notes of peaches, ginseng and pear tarte tatin.

This handmade Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey with the golden wax capsule and a nice amber colour comes from the limited Ancient Cask Private Family Estate Edition and was bottled without adding dyes and chill filtration at 90 Proof / 45% from Cask Lot No. 12. A highly peculiar brand, always produced in small lots using odd bottles, OSN is known for bourbons and whiskey of exceptional quality. The Old St Nick legend has taken on a life of its own with many claiming inside information, or knowledge about who first developed the product and why, it’s original pedigree, the source of its bourbons, and the story behind the eclectic style. The Very Olde St Nick myth is a reality with a wonderful story…in fact many stories. As many as the infinite miniscule number of releases from this highly prized producer for more than 30 years!! Very Olde St. Nick is a whiskey label that was originally bottled by Julian Van Winkle and Kentucky Bourbon Distillers exclusively for the Japanese export market back in the early 2000s. Back then, the Japanese market was much more interested in super-aged bourbons than the American market.

Hibiki 21 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky

Apart from Single Malts, Suntory also produces a premium series of blended whiskies under the label 'Hibiki' (meaning 'harmony'), usually containing a high proportion of Single Malt (upwards of 50% according to one of the company's blenders). Thirty different malts are employed from Suntory's three distilleries, most with an age well above 21 years. Hibiki 21 Year Old was, yet again, selected as the best-blended whisky in the world at the World Whisky Awards 2017. Hibiki has been awarded every year at the WWA since 2009. The judges described it as being Elegant, sweet and complex. This whisky is full of dried fruit, orange peel, strawberry jam, and baked apple from start to finish. Smooth, subtle and fairly short. Obvious collector appeal here, but we'd like to imagine this one being appreciated for what's inside the bottle. 43% Alc./Vol.

Mortlach Rare by Nature 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Non-Vintage

Mortlach Rare By Nature 21 Year OldSingle Malt Scotch Whisky 56.9% Abv, Speyside Called The Beast of Dufftown for its robust, muscular and rich character, little known Mortlach may be the best kept secret in Scotch. Bold flavours are the mark of this special breed, distinguishing it as the monarch of its glen. 'Rich in smooth intensity, from a small batch finished in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso-seasoned casks.' Tasting Notes APPEARANCE Deep gold with amber lights. Good beading. NOSE A mellow, rounded, nose with some prickle. The first impression is of rich, dried fruits, and beneath this fresh-baked buttered scones, perhaps spread with lime marmalade. Soon this becomes lightly savoury and meaty but retains a slight citric note. A drop of water modifies the latter and reduces the aroma. BODY Medium to full. PALATE At natural strength, mild for its strength and super-smooth in texture, while the wonderfully rich mouth-filling taste is immediately sweet overall with dried fruits, then intense and savoury with a surprising kick of chilli pepper as it goes down. Magnificently feral and delicious. Drying overall, with rich tannins. Similar with a dash of water, which raises a little more sweet, spiced fruit. FINISH Seemingly endless and deeply impressive, with the fruit and savoury notes in perfect agreement and a warming glow spreading across the palate. Finally leaving the palate dry, yet still wreathed in a glorious rich afterglow.
