The layers then begin to open and subtle, underlying lemon pith and jasmine enter the dancefloor. Zontes Footstep has been on a quest to find and grow the worlds best white varieties in regions that express the fruits best attributes for more than a decade. Our Pinot Noir comes from one of the finest cool-climate vineyards located in the Adelaide Hills. The soils in this vineyard are ancient; research estimates the soils are 1800 million years old, mostly gravel with limestone/calcium silicates and ferrous pebbles spread throughout. Hand-pruned, harvested and made it is our holotype for Pinot Noir. Winemaking Whole bunches of hand-selected and picked in the cool of the early morning dawn. Destemmed without crushing the fruit. 30% of this was the whole cluster fermented, while the remaining fruit was crushed and went through traditional open fermentation with 30 days of extended skin contact. These parcels were packed into 30% new and seasoned French oak hogsheads to mature and take on the character for seven months. Deepish red with a healthy tinge of purple hue. Dark cherry aromas, rich and ripe, fruit-driven with abundant spice, nettle characters. Red cherries and plum are to the fore followed by some subtle hints of fresh rocket and anise. Medium-bodied driven by cherry again hints of strawberry sasparilla root and dried oregano. Damson plums and cinnamon kick in with notes of cedar-like flavours and tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe red cherries/plums, subtle anise and spicy cedar notes. Absolutely delicious.

The grapes for our 2016 Showy Willow Sauvignon Blanc come from a small vineyard at the top of Willunga Hill in the Adelaide Hills. The fruit was hand pick and progressively transported to our winemaker in McLaren for crushing and fermentation. Aromas This is a pale yellow-green wine presenting intensely tropical aromas with passionfruit and pineapple leading to a rich full palate.

Geoff Weaver has journeyed from the big end of town to a tiny, intimate pocket of the Adelaide Hills. From his role as chief winemaker for the Hardy group of companies, in 1992 he made the break from corporate winemaking to pursue his own dream on the Lenswood vineyard that he and wife Judith had started planting a decade earlier. Those vines, some of the oldest in the Hills, are really reaping the rewards of maturity. Tightly structured yet aromatically lifted wine but with a supple mid-palate and a fine, crisp finish. The nose is fresh and lively with a lifted aroma of lime blossom. The palate is fruity with a juicy zest and a fine mineral edge.

Our Riesling is produced from 5 different clones enhancing the continued varietal flavours. Brilliantly clear with initial light floral aromas, followed with zesty flavours of spice, light citrus &; fresh ginger, a mouth-watering mid palate & a wonderful tight finish.Drink now to 2030.

Ten months in French oak (30% new), the fruit from one of our highest yielding vintages is brilliant straw green in colour and displays light citrus aromas combined with white stonefruit and a wonderful creamy multi layered finish from extended time on lees. Excellent cellaring potential.

Lyndale Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is a stunning, contemporary cool-climate Australian Chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills. In 2018, the Adelaide Hills vineyards of Woodside and Piccadilly provided the balance of softness, generosity and length, together with purity of fruit, fine acidity and mineral precision.

GinGin. A clone from California, perhaps, but a wine with all of the hallmarks of the Jura. Golden to the eye with an open, slightly oxidative nose (think cashew nuts). Juniper berries and alpine wild flowers with a fresh, rounded texture. Born in the Piccadilly Valley not far from Swaby geographically, made identically in the winery, but ultimately continents apart stylistically. 100% Piccadilly Chardonnay, handpicked, wild-yeast fermentation, whole bunch pressed to barrel, some bâttonage, 10 months in 25% new French oak, unfiltered and unfined, only 50 dozen made.
