2015 St Hugo Barossa Shiraz. The nose promises classic Barossa Shiraz, with a heady and a complex mix of dark fruits and spice mingling with toasted cedar aromas which unfold over time in the glass. Established in 1890, Château Tanunda sits upon the site that saw the first plantings in the Barossa Valley, back in the 1840's. The grand château itself is a heritage icon and has recently been restored to it former glory. 'The Château' Shiraz is sourced solely from the Vine Vale vineyard and after picking spent 10 days on its own skins to extract colour, flavour and tannin. 18 months in a mixture of old and new French and American barriques and hogheads has produced a wine of opulence and serious concentration while still retaining balance and elegance.

The wine was aged in French and American oak for at least 18 months. Dark ruby colored, the nose reveals rich dark fruit, blood plumbs, blackberry, and blueberry with dark chocolate, mineral and licorice. Full-bodied and elegant, the wine offers layers of deep flavors, outstanding depth, and a long, smooth finish. The wine will comfortably cellar for the next 12-15 years.
