Maison Eros Mclaren Vale Shiraz
The brilliant 2020 Maison Eros McLaren Vale Shiraz is rich and full, showing intense plum and dark berries with elegant savoury earthy tannins that round out the mid palate. The wine finished with great balance and length. Characterised by a depth and intensity only achievable with old vine fruit. The subtle integrated oak and textural tannins will soften as the wine ages.
Angove The Medhyk Old Vine Shiraz
Complex, dark fruited, rich and velvety. A genuine collectors item, this small-batch, old-vine shiraz has been very busy on the wine-show circuit but it's what's behind the gold medals that really gets us excited... The concentration of fruit is apparent from the moment your nose gets near the glass. Blackberries, pepper, star anise and raspberries are to be expected from McLaren Vale but the lifted nature of the aromatics is something only seen in the very top-shelf wines of the region. The palate can only really be described as an explosion of liquorice, dark plums and black cherries wrapped around a backbone of new and seasoned French oak. This will easily live in the cellar for another 10 years, 15 if you've got a reeeeeallly good cellar. But that's the beauty of 6 packs, 3 for now, 3 for 2035, easy!
Kay Brothers Amery Vineyards Hillside Shiraz
Kay Brothers Amery Hillside Shiraz is big, rich and uncompromising in the traditional McLaren Vale style. Intense fruit a good measure of oak and beautifully balanced overall - a Shiraz to live for a decade or more.
Blood Brothers Republic McLaren Vale Single Vineyard Cab Sauv
This richly flavoured wine is jet black with brilliant sheen. The fresh forest berry fruits are balanced with a smokey cedar like oak lift. The palate is generous, with rich upfront cassis fruit and hints of cinnamon spice. Sublime oak flavours give great persistence.
Aphelion The Tendance McLaren Vale Shiraz
Full of finesse and flavour. Fresh mulberry, dark cherry and violet aromas rise from the glass and flow through to the palate, where blue fruits dance with olive, coffee and wood spice flavours. Medium-bodied, balanced, with power to burn. New French oak used to mature 20 per cent of the wine, with the remainder aged in neutral French oak. Only 240 dozen produced. Unfined, unfiltered, vegan, low sulphur.
Grand Coq Shiraz
This Shiraz is a deep red in colour. Plum, red berry and cedar lifted aromas. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated with a dense platform of tannin under layers of black fruit, liquorice and dark chocolate complexity and a long generous finish. If this isn't in your cellar yet it should be!
Kay Brothers Amery Vineyards Basket Pressed Shiraz
Kay Brothers Basket Pressed Shiraz has a rich and complex bouquet that promises something special and it certainly delivers. The palate is laden with generous plum, blackberry and spice and the length is exceptional. This one is a keeper! More to the savoury side of Shiraz, it is about texture more than just fruit.
Heirloom Vineyards McLaren Vale Shiraz
Chapel Hill The Prophet McLaren Vale Shiraz
Five Geese Jon's Block Reserve Shiraz
ColourVery attractive crimson black colour. DenseAromaVery lifted and perfumed, spicy, almost nutty fruit/ oak complexity. A touch of that peaty character which is so typical of the old vines in Block 9.PalateSoft, rich, flavoursome palate with lovely spice and pepper complexity lingering. Not sweet, more savoury and elegant in style. A great follow on from the 2010 Reserve Shiraz. This is an impressive example of old vine Blewitt Springs Shiraz.
