Yarra Yering Dry Red No 2

Langton's Classification: Excellent

From some of the earliest plantings of Shiraz in the Yarra Valley with vines dating back to 1969. Shiraz (96%) co-fermented with small parcels of Viognier, Marsanne and Mataro aged 12 to 18 months in 50% new French oak barrels produces a wine that is perfumed and feminine with the tannins and acidity as integral to the wine as the fruit. Proven to age for 25+ years, Yarra Yering Dry Red No 2 was the first Cote Rotie style blend made in Australia

Yarra Yering Pinot Noir

The Yarra Yering Pinot Noir is produced from what are amongst the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Yarra Valley. Always aristocratic, fragrant with intense aromas of sweet strawberry and ripe plums, the Yarra Yering Pinot rounds out with mouthfilling notes of the same with a length hard to ignore.

Levantine Hill Katherine's Paddock Chardonnay

This Katherines Paddock Chardonnay combines the richness, drive and classicism of one clone with the fine-boned flinty structure and chalky notes of the other. It is stylish with the modern expression of Australian style Chardonnay: tense, taut and sulphidic. It reclaims the middle ground where body, flavour and palate weight co-exist with structure, texture and restrained acidity. This single-vineyard Chardonnay has well integrated natural acidity with rich varietal expression.

Chandon Etoile

Étoile is the ultimate expression of CHANDON: an ambitious passion project that redefines Australian luxury. Twenty-five years ago, winemaking Director Dan Buckle, had a first taste of the great wines of the world he had previously only dreamed of. A new benchmark for Australian sparkling 25 years in the making. The finesse and complexity opening a new vista of what was possible. With Étoile, this dream is realised: a multi-vintage composition based on eight Chandon Vintage Brut reserves, together representing hundreds of base wines and rounded out with extended ageing. It reflects the ceaseless quest of the Chandon community of past and current winemakers to create the most exceptional sparkling wines. It’s a toast to the free thinkers, the pioneers, the stargazers. Étoile considers the wealth of what can be achieved when free of the limitations of singularities. By focusing on the blend, Chandon have crafted a finely tuned cuvée with no rough edges, that shines like a polished gem. Étoile is about balance, length of palate and complexity drawing from the art of blending. By Farr Shiraz

Shiraz By Farr is one of Victoria's premier cool-climate Shiraz's, made by the iconic Geelong winemaker, Gary Farr. The nose is incredibly complex showing notes of red and black fruits, spice, black pepper and iodine. In the mouth the wine is incredibly fresh. Wonderfully braced fruit and fine framing tannins and an outstanding length.

By Farr Viognier

Gary Farr is Victorian wine royalty and is now making his By Farr wines in collaboration with his son, Nick. The results have been wines of utmost pedigree and character and this Viognier is no exception. While retaining the trademark complexity and palate texture, this Viognier has a wonderful floral lift and aromatic nature to it that makes it undeniably appealing to drink young.

By Farr Chardonnay

Gary Farr is still one of Victoria's true Chardonnay maestro's and his Chardonnay By Farr is another example. Taken from the original By Farr vineyard, this is a clearly a wine of true clarity and finesse. Flavours of melon and hints of spice with wonderful oak integration mean this wine is simply delicious upon release, but handle some careful medium-term cellaring.

Bannockburn S.R.H. Chardonnay

This is Bannockburn's flagship white wine, and it's again in imperious form. Named for Bannockburn founder Stuart Reginald Hooper, the SRH Chardonnay uses fruit sourced from just 12 rows of their oldest Chardonnay vines at Olive Tree Hill Vineyard. Here the vines have roots deeply embedded in the ancient marine sediments that form the bedrock in this area, resulting in its signature minerality year after year. This distinct minerality perfectly balances the luscious, golden, powerful fruit that these few vines produce. It's a show-stopping wine and a must for lovers of iconic Australian Chardonnay. "An effete comparison, but this is the most Burgundian chardonnay of the suite... This will age exceptionally well."- 95pts, Ned Goodwin MW (JamesSuckling.com)
