Frerejean Frères take a fresh approach to Champagne, which respects traditional methods, but leaves room for innovation. Rooted in the grand cru village of Avize, Frerejean Frères only uses grand cru and premier cru plots from the Côte des Blancs. 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 14% of Pinot Noir vinified. 30% of the reserve wines aged in Argonne oak barrels.The FJF Rosé Blossom Premier Cru is flattering with notes of candied red fruit, blackberries and blackcurrant. The Pinot Noir is expressive; it shows density and minerality with assertive and silky Chardonnay. On the palate, the Pinot Noir has elegant roundness. Grapes had to withstand temperature variations of more than 50°C over a period of 4 months and at the same time rainfall was weak. The vines made maximum use of the natural reserves of the chalk and therefore show very pleasant mineral touches.Notes which are initially evocative of pastry and lukewarm brioche are followed by floral aromas of yellow flowers and stamens, which blend with superb notes of white mature fruit. This is a wine with genuine length and great harmony, in a universe of elegance and finesse.

'Rose were for long regarded as the illegitimate offspring of Champagne, recipients of coarse, heavy pressings wines partially masked by high dosage levels. Today they are routinely priced above 'normal' NV (or vintage) blends and are carefully made. Whether they really merit the premium is irrelevant: the market has spoken.
