The grapesfor this wine were picked from our 40 year old vines grown in the volcanic soilof the ancient Fordwich Sill. These low yielding mature vines produce ripe, concentrated fruitwhich results in a wine with excellent regional and varietal characters.

The Fish Cage Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is from the bank of the Hunter River. A blend of two classic varietals; where the Semillon brings aroma of lemon curd, lime leaf and a textured lanolin palate; the Sauvignon Blanc adds exotic tropical fruit with juicy acidity. The classic and seamless blend has profusion of flavour and a refreshing crisp finish. Fish Cage wines are vibrant, fun and and easy escape. We are often asked, "Why is there a fish in the cage?" The Hungerford Hill Classic wines are from the best regions of New South Wales. The wines showcase both their varietal and regional personality with clarity and intensity; they are versatile and compliment food.

Fruit picked in the cool of night, then quickly pressed to stainless steel. It remains on lees to gain some texture, but then bottled quickly, to retain the citrus, floral notes and the brisk acidity.

Drink the Brokenwood Semillon young for its zesty lime and lemon flavours or age it for 4-6 years to experience the succulent honeyed flavours of aged Semillon.

In the glass: Pale and bright.On the nose: Fragrant citrus and tropical fruit lift.On the palate: Ripe and juicy, strongly varietal with tropical pineapple and ginger spice notes. Shows a sweet fruit core but remains clean and dry with fresh yet soft acidity. Classic Hunter Verdelho.
