Sidewood Shiraz
Tucked away nicely in the Adelaide Hills, Sidewood Estate have made an art form out of crafting some of the very best single vineyard cool-climate wines available in Australia. Owen and Cassandra Inglis purchased the boutique property in 2004 and immediately set about making their vision become a reality. Their Sidewood Shiraz displays that vision to perfection. Attention to detail is the key here which enables flavours of red cherry, currants and dark plum to shine through along with hints of cinnamon and spice. The texture is beguiling and gives promise to a wine that will age for up to a decade.
Margan Shiraz
A wonderful example of Hunter Shiraz. Ripe berries and spice with a touch of leather on the nose and a beautifully integrated palate showing plenty of juicy fruit flavour in a subtle well balanced style.
Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz
Sourced from vineyards surrounding Canberra, the Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz has been lovingly embraced as little brother to the iconic Shiraz Viognier. Also co-fermented with a touch of Viognier, the O'Riada shows a more fruit forward presence, yet still with that unmistakable Tim Kirk elegance and purity that is a theme throughout all of his wines.
Beyond the Wilderness Shiraz
An elegant cool-climate Shiraz with aromas of blackberry, plum, olive and subtle spice. The palate is vibrant, yet lacy, with refined notes of black fruits, violets and white pepper. The gentle tannins intertwine effortlessly with a blackcurrant fresh acidity and the light spice of considered French oak.Beyond the Wilderness, at the extremities of the earth, deep in the southern oceans lies a pristine land. Cool by prevailing westerlies whipped up by the Roaring Forties, this is Tasmania. Only 1% of this remarkable land is planted to vines which are producing some of the world’s most exciting new wines.
Rockcliffe Quarram Rocks Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
This "Quarram Rocks" range is named after a beautiful protected bay in the Southern Ocean. The wines are crafted into “ready to drink now” styles that show great fruit depth and mouth feel. The label depicts the various granitic rocks that crop out over the region.
Munda Djab Wurrung Country Syrah (Grampians)
AROMA Dark berry fruit and plenty of earthy spice but also with lighter violety floral and mineral notes, this wine shows complex aromas and a brooding character that entices and continues to reveal with time in the glass. TASTE Fresh dark berry fruit characters are combined with tar, dark toasted spice and hints of Dutch cocoa. The wine also has a long graphite line through the palate, balanced acidity and fine long tannins and lingering flavours.
Pierro Fire Gully Shiraz
Product Information: Co-fermented with a splash of Viognier giving the shiraz a more intensely perfumed bouquet and silkier texture. The 2022 Fire Gully Shiraz is a deep coloured wine, with aromas of black cherry jam and spicy blackberry. The palate is soft and supple, with generous fruit and fine tannins and a savoury, dry finish of considerable length. Maker: You can find Fire Gully Farm & Vineyard right in the heart of Willyabrup, Margaret River. Thanks to their mature vines, ancient gravelly loam soils, vine age, regenerative farming practices and coastal influence, the site is truly unique and creates wines that are a reflection of site and place. Owned, produced and tended to by the team at Pierro Margaret River Vineyards. The property got its name, after two large bush fires, in 1952 and 1970, ravaged the gully in the centre of the block. The Fire Gully vineyard is well-hidden from the road with a long, narrow strip flowing back to the main paddocks: so it's pretty much unknown. It is one of the Willyabrup region's most attractive and spectacular vineyards with views from the higher blocks looking over the dam, vineyards and natural bushland. From 1946 the property was owned and run by Ellis and Margaret Butcher, some of the original pioneers of the region, who planted vines on their farm in 1988. It was purchased by Michael Peterkin of Pierro in 1998. With Michael Peterkin planting further vines on the property in the following years. Fire Gully is adjacent to Moss Wood and a kilometre from Pierro Vineyards. It is influenced by the brook system that runs through the property and out to the coast four kilometres away. The sea breeze drifts up the brook to the vineyard moderating the summer temperatures. All of the grapes are hand picked at sunrise and taken in small buckets to the Pierro winery. From here, the team at Pierro craft the wines under the guidance of Dr. Peterkin, The wines are hand made and blended in small batches. Specialty varieties include, Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The Fire Gully wines express the very essence of Margaret River regionality and quality and are recognised for consistent excellence with each passing vintage. Vineyard: Pierro pioneered high-density vineyard planting in Margaret River, setting a benchmark as one of the first in Australia. With vine densities ranging from 4,000 to 5,500 per hectare - compared to the conventional 1,900 - this approach enhances vine competition, balances fruit yield, and intensifies flavour. The vineyard's moderately deep laterite gravel soils, interspersed with granite and overlying ancient base rock, are exceptionally well-drained and warm, promoting excellent root development. Pierro wine is a wonderfully complex balance of sensual and fascinating elements. In a world where mediocrity can become a pervasive norm, the wines of Pierro are a shining exception. Nose - Black Plum, Wafts of Vanilla, Sweet Earth Black cherry, earthy beetroot and gentle wafts of vanilla mixed with red earth spices. Palate - Briary, Bramble, Supple Fruit Soft and supple black fruits layered with white pepper and savoury dried herb and spice. Finish - Silky Texture, White Pepper, Spice Spreads broad but fresh, shows feathery, fine tannins over sweet, sweet fruit character. Good length.
Kalleske Greenock Shiraz
Greenock is a long standing subregion in the Barossa Valley known for rich, silken, dark-fruited wines. When you mix that terroir-driven history with a winery like Kalleske you have a match made in heaven. Able to fully utilise the deeply concentrated flavours produced by the Greenock fruit, the skilled team has bottle a full-bodied Barossa Shiraz that is overflowing with fruit, balanced tannins and seamless oak. Given some time and a nice decant and this single vineyard Shiraz will open up wonderfully.
Chris Ringland Shiraz
Chris Ringland Shiraz 2005 represents an outstanding expression from the vineyard. The vine is powerful, voluptuous and ripe, yet the tannins are plush and mature, with moderate acidity. This vintage will have great longevity potential.
Majella Shiraz
Consistency has been the hallmark of Majella Shiraz for some time now. Ripe fresh raspberry and mulberry fruit is supported by fine tannins and subtle oak.
