Red Hill Estate Merricks Grove Chardonnay
The aromas of pineapple, white peach, nectarines and melon start the senses. On the palate you will also taste rockmelon, white peach and tropical fruits. This wine has a long length of flavour and a creamy mouth feel, finishing with elegant acidity.
Onannon Mornington Chardonnay
Good flesh here though; medium-bodied, good weight and sweep of acidity with a crispness to the finish 95, 96 clone Chardonnay from two vineyards, one in Red Hill and one in Tuerong. Barrel ferment, lees stirred. 20% MLF. 15% new French oak. 10 months in the barrel. Sam, Kaspar and Will pick the fruit on the up-curve (i.e. crux of flavour and freshness) bearing in mind the warmer side of the Mornington Peninsula is part of the equation here.
Jones Road Chardonnay
Mornington Peninsula's Jones Road Chardonnay shows restraint, but a focused style with grapefruit, peach and nectarine notes. Subtle oak maturation flavours tie it all together.
Scorpo Chardonnay
Paul Scorpo produces a Chardonnay of complexity and character here. Aromas of nectarine, minerals and vanilla bean give way to a mouthfeel of peach and citrus and a lovely acid backbone. A truly full-bodied Chardonnay for those who love their barrel ferment and textured styles.
Jakcals Run Chardonnay
Barrel fermentation with lees stirring allows the peach and apricot fruit characters of the Chardonnay grape to shine. The secondary malo-lactic fermentation gives a full buttery smoothness, balance and length to the finish of this magnificent cool climate wine.
Garagiste Le Stagiaire Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay
Le Stagiaire Chardonnay is drawn mostly from Garagistes Merricks vineyard, with the balance coming from Balnarring and Tuerong. Barney Flanders doesn't make these wines specifically for this labelall his ferments start out as potential single-vineyard wines, so the single-site wines are barrel selections, with the remaining wines bottled under Le Stagiaire. This provides some idea of how this label is able over-deliver, year in year out.
Jones Road Nepean Chardonnay
This Chardonnay by Jones Rd is precise, intense and rippling with concentration and nerve. Aromas of hazelnut, nougat, pears, grapefruit and florals. The palate has a fine etched acidity with savoury, nutty flavours. A piercing and linear wine with restrained grapefruit flavour, finishing crisp and mouth-watering fresh.
Kooyong Chardonnay
Sandro Mosele continues to take Kooyong's estate wines to heights unseen for the price. Focus, linear acidity and supreme elegance are all hallmarks of Sandro's work and all can be seen here. Along with great precision, comes lovely fruit characters also that work with a whole range of Asian-fusion cuisine.
Garagiste Tuerong Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay
Grapes sourced from the 6-acre Robinson vineyard where the 25-year-old vines are rooted in black sand over brown sandy loam. North-facing site, harvested early on the 18th February. Warmer & more stable microclimate here generates a fleshier, more satin textured wine. The early harvest & partial malo provide the requisite mouthwatering crunch.A powerful & intense Chardonnay. Bright citrus & stonefruit, fig, spiced oak, flint, almost cider-like characters. Striking acidity & a lengthy finish.
