Quality MR Cabernet leads the charge here. A wine with high cheek- bones. Just ripe cabernet gives this sinew and poise. Merlot is subservient almost hard to detect. Terrific wine, at almost twice the price.

60% Cabernet 40% Merlot make this blend very approachable. The lovely rich fleshy fruit of the Merlot filling out the palate and complimenting the more leaner style of the Cabernet a luscious mouthful of red wine made to enjoy.

Winemaking The fruit was picked on the 2nd and 24th of April showing excellent flavours and tannin maturity. Lightly crushed fruit was then placed to a static and open fermenter for period of fermentation with daily pump overs to ensure a moderate fermentation temperature and extraction of tannin. Once the desirable amount of flavour and tannin was evident the wine was pressed before being matured in seasoned French oak for a following 10 months before bottling.

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are sourced from several select vineyard sites located in the Wilyabrup sub region and north to Wildwood Rd in an endeavour to capture ripe fruit flavours, supple tannins and the distinctive perfume of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. A deep and inviting black cherry colour with floral notes of violets and fruity, doughy aromas of just baked blackberry muffins. The palate is soft, inviting, and full of free range forest fruits, vanilla, cocoa and loads of supple, fine tannin. Such a pleasure to drink now but with ample ripe tannin structure to allow for aging up to 5 years.

The canopy management is a vertical shoot position trellis with a north south facing aspect. The clonal selection is the popular Houghton selection Cabernet Sauvignon. Soil types are typically sandy loam over free draining lateritic sub soils. 2021 is typified by a cool and mild growing season which has culminated in wines of delicacy and poise. Winemaking The fruit was picked on the 11th April showing excellent flavours and tannin maturity. Lightly crushed fruit was then placed to a static fermenter for a further 13 days of fermentation with daily pump overs to ensure a moderate fermentation temperature and extraction of tannin. Once the desirable amount of flavour and tannin was evident the wine was pressed before being matured in seasoned French oak for a following 9 months before bottling. A vibrant yet elegant Margaret River Cab. Black and blue fruits form a core with nots of dark chocolate, moch a and baking spices, all wrapped in silky tannins.
