This special Vineyard Selection from Henschke has aged into a rich, velvet-smooth treasure. Those intense, "lush" Barossa flavors have settled beautifully, trading their initial punch for a deep, concentrated sweetness that feels like pure luxury. It is now incredibly soft and approachable, offering a complex layer of dark fruit and spice that only comes with time. Kings Mantle Shiraz is the crowning selection of the vintage. Evocative aromas of blackberry, blueberry, boysenberry, graphite and olive tapenade precede a concentrated, intense palate of black forest fruits seamlessly integrated with oak. Finely grained tannins provide structure.

The Glaetzer family have been part of the Barossa winemaking scene since 1888 and now Ben takes over the reigns and produces Shiraz of the utmost intensity and concentration. Named after the ancient Egyptian god Amon-Ra who was the champion of the poor and troubled and was central to personal piety, the temple of Amon-Ra is believed to be the first to plant a vineyard to produce wine for the citizens of the temple. This incarnation is rich, full-bodied and viscous to the palate, yet with sublime oak integration and a balance on the back palate that is quite lifted allowing it to be paired with many meals and a prime candidate for medium to long term cellaring.

Like the Command block, which is an amazing resource to the Elderton Estate, the Ashmead block has consistently produced small parcels of excellent quality fruit. The vineyard was almost destroyed in 1997 to make way for higher yielding vines, however the family made the decision to promote the vineyard to a higher destiny thus the Ashmead.
