John Duval, famously known as the craftsman of the mighty Penfolds Grange, continues to further forge his reputation as a maker of great Shiraz. 'Eligo' from the latin: 'To pick out, select or choose or choose the best' is the flagship wine of the John Duval stable with its main aim to produce a Shiraz with structure and an elegant expression of its terrior. Multi layered with lashes of dark berry fruit, the wine is intense yet still quite restrained. An excellent Barossan Shiraz!

The Torbreck Descendant has a powerful nose of blackberry and tar complemented by floral lavender and a violet lift. Full-bodied and concentrated with ripe silky tannins and plenty of extract this wine has a great future ahead.

Coming from one of the best vintages in recent Barossa history, the Old Block from St Hallett shows what careful vineyard management can do for a wine. Rich, dark and conerntrated but with seamless tannin intergration.

Fresh blackberry and boysenberry, spice, liquorice, tar and dried herbs. Medium bodied, juicy bramble fruits, crisp boysenberry acidity, salted beef, firm but fine grained drying tannin, and a long fresh meaty herb infused finish.

Glaetzer Wines AMON-Ra Shiraz, Barossa Valley Glaetzer sources fruit from extraordinary, low-yielding 50 to 130-year-old grower vineyards around the Ebenezer sub-district, forming the structure and character of the intensely concentrated yet animated AMON-Ra Shiraz. After traditional vinification and extended maceration on skins, the wine is matured for 12 to 18 months in new French (95%) and American hogsheads. Inky coloured with dark fruits, spice and liquorice aromas and flavours, chocolatey tannins. Power and generosity are hallmarks of the style.

Elegant and medium bodied, Indigene by Spinifex is a Shiraz Mataro blend typically displaying ripe red and black complemented by forest floor and savoury undertones hinting of the Old World. The fruit is sourced from selected vineyards averaging in age between 60-100 years, providing the blend with impressive intensity and depth of flavour. Following traditional vinification, the wine is aged in seasoned French oak.

Sourced from a single vineyard planted in 1921 these vines are all you would expect of a vineyard approaching 100 years of age, gnarled, twisted and expressing their many years of hardship.

The perfect counterpoint to its other half in the Hentley Farm stable, The Beast, The Beauty is made from cooler climate Shiraz and co-fermented with a dollop of Viognier. Utterly seductive like some dark pool calling you to dive in, it is complex, elegant and aptly named.

Small parcels of fruit from old dry grown vines are selected for their intensity of flavour and individual qualities. Complex and concentrated this classic Barossan will continue to develop for a decade at least.

The Filsell Vineyard was planted in 1920 and for the last 100 years has produced some of Australia’s premier and iconic Barossa Shiraz. With only 6,000 bottles available, this once in a lifetime wine has been produced to celebrate the centenary of these vines.
