We all recognise that this most Northern Cru bears a name which is gentle to the ear and to the heart. It is the wine of poets and lovers. If it did not exist, life would be a little less charming. The village of Saint Amour gives its name to this wine. Produced from a 47 year old gamay vineyard, this wine impresses with wonderful complexity and supple, rich and smooth flavours.

Domaine Pichot is a 24Ha family estate in Vouvray on the right bank of the Loire, where vignerons dedicate their time to the cultivation of Chenin Blanc, locally coined ‘Pineau de la Loire’, to produce dry, sweet and sparkling whites. Demi-sec Vouvray is, after sparkling Vouvray, the most popular wine of the appellation and perhaps the most typical showing Chenin Blanc at it most perfumed and expressive with just a delicate sweetness balancing the lively acidity. Brilliant pale straw colour with subtle reflections of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Pronounced ripe pear, honeysuckle and quince scents are followed by some baked apple and spice notes. Showing good intensity across the palate are rich, luscious pear and baked apple favours which mix with honeysuckle, musk and spice. Refreshing off dry finish with a long fruity aftertaste. On the nose this Fumé has passionfruit and gooseberries with crisp citrus. The palate is filled with tropical fruit, herbaceous citrus acidity with a smoky tannic finish.

Light Straw. A fragrant, spring blossom bouquet with crisp pear and apple notes. Elegant and pretty, with a flavoursome and serious palate. Intense lemon and lime, with a core of crunchy green apple, pear and subtle grapefruit. Lengthy, driven and very refreshing with integrated oak adding texture to the finish.

Ken Forrester Vineyards is renowned for producing wines that have received international acclaim and numerous awards, including the world’s top Chenin Blanc at the 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards for the 2021 Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc. Ken has become known for his dedication to Chenin Blanc, which he has been championing since 1993. Despite being advised to uproot an old Chenin vineyard and plant Pinotage or Chardonnay, he decided to give the varietal a chance. His dedication to Chenin Blanc is not only a contribution to the South African wine industry but also an inspiration for other wine producers around the world. Barrel and tank fermented and left on the lees (7 months French oak, 20% new) for a rounded complexity. Golden hued and full bodied, with melon and spicy baked apple aromas. Layered, with mineral notes enhanced by honeycomb and caramel flavours from lees contact. A great example of the harmonious balance which can be achieved between fruit and delicate oak/vanilla flavours, as they combine to form complex, soft flavours with sufficient body to enhance even spicy and full flavoured meals.

Allee Bleue Chenin Blanc The intense aromas of tropical fruit are well supported by an elegant vanilla and nutty bouquet. The palate is rich and vibrant, with layers of sundried fruits, nougat, and a lemony aftertaste.
