Giant Steps is a complex Pinot Noir with terrific varietal character. The nose shows rose petal, dark cherry and tomato leaf aromas and the palate is fleshy but tight, with savoury, dusty notes and silky tannins.

This Pinot comes from the McCutcheon vineyard. Typically elegant with characteristic earthy, spicy, red fruit and berries, undergrowth and autumnal leaves; it is a controlled wine, poised and restrained.

This is more aromatically complex than the Cents Vignes with its well-layered nose of red and dark berries, violets, plum, earth, spice and discreet game nuances. This also displays a relatively refined mouth feel as the plump and rounded medium-bodied flavors are delicious and a bit more concentrated as well before terminating in a slightly dry finish that cuts the persistence short. The biodynamically managed Estate vineyard is close-planted to 8,500 vines/hectare and cropped at a low one tonne/acre. Soils in the area are free-draining and mineral rich which can encourage high vigour. This, coupled with the regions high rainfall, can lead to disease pressure; therefore, careful management of the canopy is essential. Owner/winemaker Phillip Jones meticulous management of the vineyard ensures the Estate Pinot Noir consistently expresses enchanting fruit purity, multi-layered complexity and a sense of place unlike any other in Australia.
