The 2021 Red Grenache is a cool wine, because it throws off the usual full-bodied expectation of an easy drinking red and replaces it with something crunchy, spicy, medium-bodied and exciting. The fruit is sweet and tempered by savory tannins, and all in all, there is a heck of a lot of pleasure here. I love the febrile tension in the mouth. Really smart.

The palate starts out with crunchy red fruits complimented by the whole bunch used in fermentation and the French oak used. Sourced from vines planted in the rich red soils of the Lienert Vineyards, where the fruit ripens lazily under the big blue skies of the Barossas western ridge. The result is a wonderfully flavoursome blend of Barossas three hero red varieties Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. The Grenache brings vitality and juicy red fruits. Shiraz provides richness and dark fruits, with Mataro playing a key role delivering structure and a good dose of spice.
