One of Australia's true great wine treasures, Henschke produce a range of wines that are the envy of most. Keyneton Estate is often the first premium wine from this most famous of producers that people try. As such, the attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship of this wine is a testament to the vision and passion of Stephen and Prue Henschke.

Château Tanunda's Newcastle combines Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan and Cinsault for this Rhône styled Barossa Valley red blend. The wine is deep and dark in colour with big, juicy aromas with a hint of vanilla and French oak. This juiciness is continued onto the palate with raspberries, dark stone fruit and some light tannins. The structure is super smooth leading to a long, elegant finish.

The now much sought after Righteous range of wines from Kym Teusner was first established in 2005 with the Grenache and this is the latest incarnation of this foreboding Barossa wine. Sourced from an 80 year old bush-vine vineyard, the Righteous Grenache was gently crushed and fermented in open fermenters with regular pump-overs. Maturation was completed in a mix of French and American oak and has resulted in a modern classic Grenache.

Grenache has long been a stalwart of the South Australian wine scene and Penfolds have been blending Grenache with Shiraz since the 1950's. Recent years has seen a growing trend for the luscious perfumed styles like those emanating out of the northern Rhône and the Bin 138 produces a brilliant example. Kalleske Old Vine Grenache, Barossa Valley The Kalleske family makes their Old Vine Grenache in the Barossa Valley, where they have been farming and growing grapes since the 1800s. Yet this old Barossa family have been cited by Max Allen in 2010 as a model for the future of the Barossa. Estate grown, vinified and matured on the Kalleske Greenock estate, the Old Vine Grenache is made from a single vineyard planted in 1935 as bush vines on the Kalleske farm. The shallow sand and light clay ensure that these dry-grown grapes are intensely flavoured fruit.

This parcel was carefully selected by winemaker, Richard Quodling, for its inimitable quality. True to its name, Richard describes this wine as 'the ultimate Barossa Grenache'. It offers intense, rich flavours of raspberry and red cherry, spice notes and toasty oak.

Pale coral in colour with argyle pink hues, there are aromas of fresh quince, raspberry and white chocolate, grapefruit blossom and sea spray. A savoury yet moreish palate, full of Alpine strawberries, preserved lemons and grapefruit pith. Enjoy with chargrilled squid and salsa verde.
