The Upstarts Rose

Grown from the Ground up in a single vineyard in the Clare Valley region, the wines are made with a hands-off approach in the winery and with sustainability at the forefront of mind. The Upstarts Wine’s mission - to make easy drinking, accessible wines that stand up against the big guys when put to the test. Wines to be enjoyed with great conversation.

Koonowla Clare Valley Rosé

Just west of the Auburn township, our estate vineyard is set on a southern-facing, rocky site that is perfect for nurturing cool climate fruit characters in both red and white varieties. Our rosé is a distinctive, fresh style made from merlot that has been managed in the vineyard specifically to express amazing flavour while still retaining palate excitement and aromatic lift. Merlot, in fact, works a treat in this style, a softer, plumper red wine grape that when picked at just the right rosé ripeness gives you great flavour with a vivacious personality, further enhanced in the winery without any oak maturation and overt winemaking influence. "Merlot is coming back, I say and hear often. And bottling it as rosé might offer this polarising grape variety a carte blanche. Deep salmon colour and matching sweet red fruit profile. Strawberry and cranberry mingle with spice and creamy Greek yoghurt. It is on the sweeter side, showing generous red fruits and ripe pink grapefruit. Chill it, add freshly cut orange wedges, and enjoy a zesty and winey Aperol Spritz challenger!" - Marcell Kustos, Wine Pilot.

Kirrihill Gleeson & Co. Grenache

A plummy, blue fruited and full bodied grenache - the perfect accomplice to a cheeky night on the couch watching telly. Grenache is at the fore-front of Austalian wine producers minds right now, and we’re here for it. The reason it’s causing such a buzz it because the quality of the fruit (and, thus, the wine) is superb, and perfectly suited to Aussie growing conditions. This Clare Valley example has freshness, exuberance, and a moreish juiciness from go to woe. Kick you feet up, put your show on, and make sure the bottles within reach.

Jim Barry Wines Rose

JIM BARRY WINES Rose, Clare Valley 2021 Jim Barrys Clare Valley Rosé makes every last drop count. Red currant, fresh strawberry and lively pink grapefruit continue through to the palate and the finish is clean and refreshingly long.

Kilikanoon Kelly Grenache

The source for the Kelly 1932 Grenache comes from the Kilikanoon's garden, hand picked at optimum maturity. Maximum fruit intensity and varietal definition along with precise, natural acid retention. A beautifully poised and layered palate, brimming full of dark cherries and cocoa carried over from the nose, seamlessly combining with its fine powdery tannins, naturally retained acidity and hint of French oak toastiness.

Claymore Youll Never Walk Alone GSM

Inspired by those delectable, food friendly blends from the south of France we have crafted a fresh and aromatic GSM that greets the drinker with savoury earthy aromas and succulent strawberries followed by hints of rosehip and fresh herbs. The true craft of the winemaker is the intricate art of blending. This wine is a prime expression of that artistic talent; the weaving together of various elements to enhance and complement each other resulting in a finished product far greater than the individual components. A cracker wine, fresh and juicy possessing crunchy tannins and savoury fresh mushroom character. The mid palate is full of floral red-currant fruit, with some choc-mint and fresh leather on the finish. This wine is unfiltered and matured for 10 months in older oak to preserve maximum primary fruit lift and intensity. An accessible wine of surprising length and complexity totally slurpable (yes it IS a word).

Taylors Cabernet Sauvignon

This Clare Valley Cabernet from Taylors shows ample varietal blackcurrant flavour seasoned with some attractive sweet oak. The tannins are firm but nicely in balance.

This textbook Merlot captures the varietal characters of berries, fruitcake and velvety tannins. The judicious use of French and American oak adds mocha and vanilla softens and rounds the palate.

Taylors Estate Riesling

The wines from Taylors are better than ever and their superb Riesling leads the way. Typical floral and citrus aromas leap from the glass and the palate is a mouthful of pure varietal flavour.
