Geoff Weaver Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills is quite possible the region's best example of this aromatic variety. The bouquet shows lifted varietal characters of green pea and passionfruit and the palate is textured and long.

This Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills performs exceptionally well. It produces the right balance of ripe gooseberry fruits, fresh herbs and citrus acidity. Clean, crisp and refreshing, this savvy is a mouthful.

Riesling has a strong affinity for the cooler climes of the World, and it is therefore no surprise that it would produce wines of great character in the Adelaide Hills. Whilst we made the hard decision to graft some of our Riesling vines over to Pinot Noir some years back, we have retained only the most promising clones to produce our Riesling as its perhaps the top white pick amongst staff and remains a labour of love. The Riesling crop, whilst minuscule, showed hallmark varietal characters and fine acidity nurtured by the cool nights and warm sunny days. Careful sampling in the vineyard, paying particular attention to flavour development and acid levels, meant the fruit was harvested on the 14th of March when the ideal balance was reached. Lifted floral aromas and the lively citrus fruit intensity are finely balanced by the tight structure and crisp natural acidity.

The grapes for our 2016 Showy Willow Sauvignon Blanc come from a small vineyard at the top of Willunga Hill in the Adelaide Hills. The fruit was hand pick and progressively transported to our winemaker in McLaren for crushing and fermentation. Aromas This is a pale yellow-green wine presenting intensely tropical aromas with passionfruit and pineapple leading to a rich full palate.

Geoff Weaver has journeyed from the big end of town to a tiny, intimate pocket of the Adelaide Hills. From his role as chief winemaker for the Hardy group of companies, in 1992 he made the break from corporate winemaking to pursue his own dream on the Lenswood vineyard that he and wife Judith had started planting a decade earlier. Those vines, some of the oldest in the Hills, are really reaping the rewards of maturity. Tightly structured yet aromatically lifted wine but with a supple mid-palate and a fine, crisp finish. The nose is fresh and lively with a lifted aroma of lime blossom. The palate is fruity with a juicy zest and a fine mineral edge.

Gruner Veltliner has found a new home in the cool southern Adelaide Hills where it produces white wines that capture both the old-world essence of Austria and the modern vibrancy and clarity of Australia. Vintage: The 2018 growing season started slowly, but warmer weather eventually helped to speed things up. Fruit set throughout the region was good and the low rainfall and warm weather from January to April resulted in great sugar development, while a cooler than average March offered ideal night temperatures for colour and flavour development. Nose: The nose exhibits aromas of bosc pear and citrus blossom, complemented by spicy notes. Palate: The palate is beautifully complex with pear, rock melon and lemon, followed by additional floral notes and a crisp, dry finish. Pairing: Try with a Thai chicken salad with a coriander and sweet chili dressing. Cellaring: Drink now or to 2022 Geoff Hardy's great-great grandfather, the original Thomas Hardy, first planted grapes in South Australia in the 1850s and was one of the founding fathers of the Australian wine industry. In 1980, Geoff left the then family company, Thomas Hardy and Sons, to make his own way in the Australian wine world. Geoff and fellow viticulturalist Ian Leask purchased the promising Pertaringa vineyard in McLaren Vale. A few years later, Geoff found the perfect location for producing cool climate grapes in the Adelaide Hills. He planted the vineyard in 1987 and named it K1 since this unique site was the first commercial planting of vines in the Kuitpo region in the southern Adelaide Hills.
