Head Wines was started in 2006 by Alex Head. It focuses on single site Rhône varietals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys in South Australia. Head Red is a barrel cull from Barossa vineyards including 'The Blonde', 'The Brunette' and The Contrarian single vineyard Shiraz wines. It allows a pre-view of the vintage quality to come and keeps the quality of the Single vineyard wines as high as possible. The wine receives 12 months barrel age in predominantly older French hogsheads allowing the vintage and terroir to show clearly. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Elderton is one of Australia's great Shiraz producers, year in and year out. Brimming with ripe juicy blood-plum and chocolate flavours, this is almost like Black Forest cake in a bottle!

High up in the Adelaide Hills, Paracombe is owned and operated by the Drogemuller family, which it has passionately done since 1983. Sourced from both estate and selected grower fruit, Paracombe Shiraz shows wonderful ripe fruit aromas with a delicate cool-climate aspect. Notes of cherries, plums, pepper and spice are notable along with a palate of layered spicy fruit and a fine tannin structure.

Every so often there are parcels of wine that generate tremendous excitement amongst the winemakers at Schild Estate. They set this aside to make Prämie, the wine that defines the best of the vintage and the land on which it was grown. Intense primary fresh plum flavours show again on the palate, where they hold their presence all the way through to roll out soft and pillowy at the finish. A firmly present, but fine tannin framework provides just enough focus and lift for the fruit to ensure added complexity, but retaining vibrancy to the mouth flavours of this Shiraz.

The wine is deep purple in colour and the nose exhibits dark plums and warms spices. The palate is an explosion of brambly fruits and fiine cedar-like oak nicely wrapped in a slinky tannin structure.

Alkoomi Icon Jarrah Shiraz is a deep crimson coloured wine showing garnet shades. Pleasing aromas of plums, dark cherries and tobacco flow from its fragrant nose, making way for a luscious palate brimming with flavours of plum, black cherry, black pepper and leather. These vibrant characters are supported by fine tannins and lively acidity, eventually culminating in a captivating finale. This exquisite Shiraz can be enjoyed upon release. It can be served with peppered steak, grilled lamb and blue cheese.

The wine is deep crimson with purple hues. On the nose there are hints of fresh porcini, blackberries, summer thunderstorm, cold steel, cinnamon and white pepper. The palate is truly captivating, combining youthful and finely detailed fruit complexity with slightly wild, earthy and rusty structural elements, true to the varietal integrity, while articulating the personality of the site.
