Bright, intense ruby red in colour, Tasca Regaleali Nero d'Avola is full flavoured with notes of sour cherry, mulberry, blueberry and vanilla. Herbaceous spice such as sage add further complexity leading into a beautifully balanced red wine.

Produced from Nero d'Avola and dried Nero d'Avola grapes grown on the best sites in western Sicily. The grapes are dried in two historical ways, depending on their origin. Some grapes are left to hang and dehydrate on the vine while others are hand harvested and left to dry on racks for 15 days. The wine is vinified in a very gentle way allowing the wine to display both intensity of flavour and early approachability. The lavish fruit flavours of damson, black cherries and black currants match very well with rich meat based sauces.

Hailing from the home of the Nero d'Avola grape variety, this robust Nero from Feudo Principi di Butera could almost be mistaken for Shiraz such is the richness and voluptuousness of this wine. Dry cherries, dark chocolate and masses of ripe plums dominate a smooth & textured palate with lovely generosity and velvety tannins.

David Hook's Shiraz is medium bodied, some vibrant characters of spicy red berries and soft rounding tannins with hints of vanilla oak on the palate. Ripe fruits richness with a lengthy finish. A great number to have handy when friends drop by.

Dark garnet. Notes of ripe plums, leather, garrigue and pepper on the nose, with ripe black cherry and a touch of candied berry on the palate. Finishes with fruit sweetness and a liquorice note with soft gripping tannins to hold it all together.

Feudo Montoni Lagnusa Nero d'Avola Sicilia DOC Great entry-level Nero dAvola from Feudo Montoni showing dark fruit and notes of black truffle and an underlying minerality. Lagnusa, in the Cammarata area, is the name of the cru (certified organic) from which the grapes are sourced and comes from the Sicilian word for lazy. A bit harsh, but the soil gives little, making the vines work hard to produce low yields of concentrated fruit. Altitude: Sitting at 600 meters above sea level, the 35-year-old vines (grafted by hand onto older roots) face east on sandy clay soils. These vines were selected (massale) from mother vines in the Vrucura cru. In the winery, the juice is fermented in cement containers, with Malolactic fermentation taking place completely in cement. The wine the recieves three ageing stages. Around 20 months in cement to allow the wine to mature, around four months on oak to add a little texture and then the same again in bottle to settle. Red wine artisan, Marco Cirillo, has produced a single vineyard Shiraz with as minimal intervention as possible. Using 90% whole berry and 10% whole bunch as well as natural yeast fermentation without fining or filtering, this Shiraz screams of its terroir. Expressive fruit up front of plums and red berries with small waft of leafy characters. The palate dances across the tongue without hindrance from over use of oak and is a supreme wine for the price.
