The Tar & Roses Tempranillo is a great example of what 20 year old Tempranillo vines are achieving in Australia. On the nose there are juicy rich mulberries, freshly dug earth with hints of blackcurrant and aniseed. The palate has impressive length, balance and structure.

This Adelaide Hills Tempranillo was selected from a single vineyard in Macclesfield in the southern hills. It was handcrafted to produce a wine portraying the uniquely high elevation, red earth, crisp mornings and the warmth of autumn colours. Brooding dark fruits with ripe plums are integrated with a mild oak spice and hints of wild mint. A perfect accompaniment to a grazing platter on an mild Autumn afternoon.

Aromas with sour cherry, raspberry fruit characters and herbal notes on the palate. It finishes with clean, crisp acidity and chalky tannins. A perfect complement to Italian food.

Schioppettino is a fairly obscure variety even back in its homeland, but there has been a resurgence of planting in the last 30+ years turning it around to be almost cult like. The nose shows bright juicy blackberry, raspberry and blood plum, savoury earth showing its Heathcote roots, slightly smoky with vanilla and liquorice spice. While smelling rich and intense, it's medium bodied with fine sandy tannins and a crunchy finish.

Picked from selected premium vineyards for optimum quality, this wine is deep purple in colour with aromas of dark cherry & raspberry. Subtle hints of spice & white pepper lead to an intensely flavoured, well rounded yet relatively soft mouth feel of dark fruits, blackberries & oak influenced raspberries. Medium bodied with a balanced acidity and lingering length, this selection perfectly reflects of both the Heathcote region & the renowned quality of Red Hill Estate.

Considered the black beauty of wine, Nero dAvola displays bold aromas of respberry and blueberry, finishing with chalky tannins.

Winemaker Mike Brown is a passionate advocate for environmental practices in the vineyard including sustainable agriculture to produce the best results in all of the Gemtree wines. The same philosophy is adopted by the viticulturalist - his wife, Melissa. Gemtree Vineyards are located just 35 kilometres south of Adelaide in the heart of the McLaren Vale wine region. Its considered one of the best regions in the world to grow grapes thanks to its ancient soils and Mediterranean climate plus cooling sea breezes from the nearby Gulf of St.Vincent. Soils in the area range from shallow red brown earths over limestone to deep fertile clay soils. Gemtree Vineyards comprises 260 acres under vine planted with Chardonnay, Verdelho, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot and Sangiovese.
