Affentals unique name derives from a pilgrimage chapel, which stood near the grapevines. In support of the pilgrims Ave Maria the valley was known as Ave Tal (Ave Valley) in the local vernacular, from which todays Affental (Valley of the monkeys) evolved. The origin of the Affental Wine Cooperative dates back to the year 1908. At the time, 24 winegrowers founded the Natural Winegrowing Association of Affental. From this, todays Affental Viticultural Cooperative was created over the years with approximately 240 hectares of vineyards. Showing a gentle blush of colour, this Rose is both charming and pretty, yet still offers great structure and drive. With initial hints of watermelon and pink rosebud florals the nose then opens to reveal wild strawberries and cream. The palate is crisp and vibrant with delicate red fruits, an elegant dry palate and juicy fruit acidity that leaves the mouth revived and thirsty for more. 80% Pinot Noir, 15% Malbec, 5% Syrah.

Mike and the team at De Iuliis have made some sensational Rosé in recent years, and this is another example, made from a mouth-watering mix of Sangiovese and Merlot.Pale salmon pink. Fresh red fruit, watermelon and rose water aromas. A restrained and savoury expression with a tight core of bright red fruit, attractive wet rock minerality, zesty acidity and a fresh, lively finish.

Will Gilbert’s Rosé is a blend of varietals, Sangiovese, Shiraz and Zinfandel. The wine is super light in colour, nice and dry whilst it still has loads of flavour!! Pink grapefruit citrus characters on the nose, with a palate packed full of pepperberry spice.
