Kumeu River Wines Village Chardonnay

Robert Stein 3rd Generation Chardonnay

Winemaker Jacob has done wonders with the 2014 vintage, producing this exceptional Chardonnay wine. 80% of the fruit was tank fermented on high lees while the remaining grapes were barrel fermented using wild yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation followed, which gave the wine complexity, intensity and structure. The result is a modern-styled Chardonnay displaying a pale straw colour with light green hues. Blissful aromas of peach, grapefruit and citrus flow from its attractive nose, while the rich and juicy palate depicts concentrated fruit flavours that lead to a cleansing finish and a pleasing mouthfeel. Foods like creamy vegetable soups, pastas, risottos and fish pates pair well with this elegant white wine varietal.

Mercer Wines Orange Pinot Grigio

Born-and-bred Hunter Valley specialist, Aaron Mercer spent years at Tamburlaine, and had stints at Tyrrell’s and Brokenwood, before setting up on his own. He’s also worked in California, France and Germany so brings a great deal of experience to his winemaking, with a a great small-batch range from premium Hunter Valley sites, Tumbarumba and Orange (as here), This Pinot Grigio is pure, yet textured. A little added weight through lees ageing and a little time in oak.A fine and focussed drop showcasing white flowers, creamy almond nougat and acid crunch. A welcome addition to Summer barbecues with friends.

Printhie Topography Pinot Gris

Orange is quietly making some of the best Pinot Gris in the country, and Printhie have it pretty well nailed. Their Topography range is about showing off the region’s cool-climate strengths, and Gris is right at home here. The high elevation keeps everything bright and fresh, while still giving the wine a bit of weight and texture. The 2024 vintage rolled along steadily and that shows in the glass – plenty of clean orchard fruit, a little savoury edge, and a nice, easy flow across the palate. It’s not trying to be flashy, just a well-balanced, versatile white that’s great with food or on its own. If you’re after a Gris with a bit of personality but still crisp and refreshing, this one’s hard to beat. 95 points"The beauty here is that no matter if you are a pinot grigio or a pinot gris drinker, this wine is of such quality that everyone would enjoy it."- Shanteh Wale (Halliday Wine Companion)
