Penfolds RWT Bin 798 Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

The initials RWT stand for Red Winemaking Trial, the name given to the project internally by Penfolds when developmental work began in 1995. No longer a trial, RWT Shiraz was launched in 2000. Its style is opulent and fleshy, made from fruit primarily selected for its aromatic qualities and plush texture. The result is a wine that helps to redefine Barossa shiraz at the highest quality level.Peak drinking: 2022 - 2050

The Standish Lamella Shiraz

Product Description: The pinnacle of Eden Valley Shiraz, forged from legacy and precision. Lamella is the flagship Shiraz from Dan Standish, a sixth-generation Barossan and one of Australia’s most exacting winemakers. Sourced exclusively from the Angas family vineyard at Hutton Vale Farm in Eden Valley, the fruit comes from vines planted in the early 1960s using cuttings from the famed Mt Edelstone vineyard. This site, perched between Mt Edelstone and Hill of Grace, is one of the most prized in the country—and Lamella is its purest expression. Crafted entirely from whole bunches and fermented in small open oak vats, the 2021 vintage shows remarkable finesse and structure. Cool conditions delivered a wine of rare clarity and poise: jasmine tea, graphite, bergamot, and star anise float above layers of pomegranate, sage, and black tea. Each parcel is vinified separately, allowing Dan to make ruthless selections—up to 80% of fruit can be declassified—ensuring only the most compelling barrels are bottled. This is a wine of grand architecture and long cellaring potential. Best from 2027, but its dense core of black fruits, spice and fine-grained tannin will carry it through to 2043 with ease. Pair it with chargrilled meats, aged cheeses, or nothing at all—Lamella can speak for itself. Tasting Notes NOSE – Exotic spice and florals Jasmine tea, bergamot and graphite rise from the glass with raspberry, star anise and citrus blossom. John Duval Eligo Shiraz

John Duval, famously known as the craftsman of the mighty Penfolds Grange, continues to further forge his reputation as a maker of great Shiraz. 'Eligo' from the latin: 'To pick out, select or choose or choose the best' is the flagship wine of the John Duval stable with its main aim to produce a Shiraz with structure and an elegant expression of its terrior. Multi layered with lashes of dark berry fruit, the wine is intense yet still quite restrained. An excellent Barossan Shiraz!

Two Hands Ares Shiraz

Two Hands Ares Shiraz is a wine that showcases the very best parcel selection that Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz can get their 'Two Hands' on. A wonderfully powerful, rich and dense Shiraz from the Barossa Valley, the Ares Shiraz is matured in 100% French Oak, not a common practice in the Barossa. With the full-bodied nature of the wine, the extra bottle age makes the Ares Shiraz a perfect bottle to open now.

St Hallett Old Block Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Excellent

Coming from one of the best vintages in recent Barossa history, the Old Block from St Hallett shows what careful vineyard management can do for a wine. Rich, dark and conerntrated but with seamless tannin intergration.

Yangarra Estate Ironheart Shiraz

The dark fruit aromas are underpinned by developing earthy characters, with spice and a hint of minerality. The palate shows plenty of power and concentration as the fruit unfolds, with big soft tannins, so typical from this site, and the iron-like sanguine finish. Ironheart represents the most eloquent expression of Shiraz from our Estate, grown on the most elite Shiraz block which we refer to simply as Block 15. The name Ironheart speaks to the reddish ironstone soils of this unique site. As with all of our wines, we use open-top fermenters, natural yeast fermentation and employ a careful regime of plunging, drain and returns to get the right balance of extraction. We fill 25% of the fermenter with whole clusters which adds some texture and complexity. The Yangarra philosophy centers around producing wines solely from our single-vineyard estate, where our bush-vine Grenache is the keystone variety. With our feet firm in history, and our eyes on the horizon, Yangarra Estate now exists to deliver the essence of this beautiful place to your glass. McLaren Vale folks like to think that their region on the Gulf St Vincent, patron of viticulturers, has the best Mediterranean climate on Earth. With this foremost in mind, Yangarra Estate is devoted solely to producing wines from the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone, which lies on the north-west Mediterranean coast. Yangarras combination of rare geologies, moderate altitude, abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes make it perfect for growing varieties that thrive in these moderate maritime environments. Our respect of this special piece of country is evident in the wines we make from its grapes - every Yangarra Estate wine is a confident reflection of the nature of this land.

Heirloom Vineyards A'Lambra Eden Valley Shiraz

This Heirloom Vineyards Eden Valley Shiraz has lifted red fruit signature of Eden Shiraz, but its site also offers some very unique and distinctive aromas of blackberry and intriguing notes of a spice, and the perfume of blueberries. The palate is cool, fresh and light, but persistently fruity and very zingy. The finish is fine, natural and unforced. It's a delicious, confident drink. There is some cream and spice from the French Oak but it's all about the pure fruit.

Martins Vineyard Limited McLaren Vale Shiraz

This striking shiraz exhibits stunning fruit richness and intensity, showing lifted aromas of blackberry, vanilla, chocolate tart, cedar and smoked game on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that displays outstanding depth and opulence. It is compelling and symphonic with layers of silky texture and delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2032

Teusner Righteous FG Shiraz

Righteous to be called a true Barossa Shiraz; Teusner FG Shiraz is bold, packed with intense black fruits, mocha and sweet spices on the nose. Great balance in oak use, giving the wine structured tannins and extra vanilla oak flavour as the back bone on the palate. Hand picked grapes from one of the oldest vines in Barossa. This is certainly one of those wines that could impress!

Schild Estate Barossa Valley Moorooroo Shiraz

Deep ruby, purple in colour showing intense and creamy aromas of dark compote berry fruit with hints of blackberry, plums and mulberries peeking through. On the palate waves of the same dark berry fruit show early providing a density and voluptuousness to the mouth-feel that remains deep into the mouth and rolls out through the back. It is joined by just a hint of spice and some subtle glimpses of faint leather and sandalwood.
