d'Arenberg The Stranded Starfish Rose

Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Today, fourth generation family member Chester makes distinctive wines using traditional and sustainable methods in the vineyard and winery. Small batches of grapes undergo 10 days of carbonic maceration, then are gently crushed and immediately drained to finish fermentation in stainless steel. Stranded starfish have no place to hide. It'll be those that gave their island to survive; drink up, dreamers, you're running dry.

Drop of Sunshine Shiraz

Wine is like a story... Engaging, vibrant and with dimension, a good one tastes like a Drop of Sunshine. A brand crafted and created by women in collaboration with Hello Sunshine, this is our toast to moments of connection and the journeys that shape us, inspired by every drop of joy along the way. This smooth Shiraz had juicy blueberry and plum aromas, with hints of raspberry on the nose. Across the palate, it has vibrant blue fruits, finishing with plush velvety tannins.

Sisters Run Shiraz

Sisters Run is an independently owned and operated winery with a fierce commitment to make the best wines from family vineyards. The label pays reference to talented young winemaker Elena Brooks who wears steel cap boots in the day but carries a pair of high heels in the back of the ute, just in case of emergencies. Lovely aromas of red berries mingle delightfully with spice and black pepper notes. The palate is dry, medium-full bodied and amply rewards the promise of the nose. Suggestions of spice, plus red and black fruit, with a crisp acidity and appropriate tannins keeping everything balanced through the end of the long and tangy finish.

The Good Grape McLaren Vale Shiraz

Collaborations Shiraz by d'Arenberg

Good winter rains set the vines up well for the ensuing dry, warm growing season. The ripening period was characterised again by warm, dry condition without excessive heat which gifted us rich, opulent reds with well-balanced structure. The moderate weather allowed us to harvest fruit at optimal ripeness. The Shiraz in particular demonstrates rafts of blackberry, fennel and earthy characters, typical hallmarks of a classic d’Arenberg red. Produced in close partnership with some of Australia's finest vineyards, Collaborations is our new capsule range of five wines. After over a year of tasting and scoring, we arrived at our core collection of wines: a Brown Brothers prosecco, a Mr Riggs shiraz, a Yering Station chardonnay, a Pizzini pinot grigio and a Xanadu cabernet sauvignon. d'Arenberg The Stump Jump Grenache Mourvedre Shiraz

It is rumoured that the inventor of the Stump Jump plough, which enabled a ploughshare to jump over tree roots, had poor eyesight and required regular tests to ensure he could still operate machinery. The design of this label is inspired by an optometrist’s eyechart and serves as a makeshift sobriety test. If you can hold the bottle at arm’s length and still read the front label, you can enjoy another glass. d'Arenberg The Stump Jump Grenache Mourvèdre Shiraz 2018 vintage has an array of dark, sweet and savoury notes, plum, dark cherry, game, earth and black pepper. The palate adds mulberry, raspberry with beautiful lifted spice and mineral grit. The fine, powdery, gritty tannins are fruit derived and lively, making for a long finish. There’s no shortage of flavour here.

Homeless Grapes Project McLaren Vale Shiraz

The first Homeless Grapes Project started in 2015 with one little Facebook post. Jock Harvey, from Chalk Hill Wines, posted that he had a surplus block of grapes and anyone was welcome to them if they made a donation to charity. We saw an opportunity: why not make a cheeky little shiraz instead and send 100% of the profits to charity? We contacted Jock, and the rest - as they say in the biz - took loads of hard work but was totally worth it.Three hours later, we had pickers, tractors, a winemaker, barrels, bottles and labels all lined up. The whole community came together to make the wine a reality, and the Homeless Grapes Project was born. An incredible $36,000 donation to the Hutt St Centre in Adelaide. Since then you’ve helped us raise over $200,000 for Australia’s homeless. The Homeless Grapes ProjectMcLaren Vale 2020All proceeds from this McLaren Vale shiraz will go to the Hutt St Centre in Adelaide. Each year, Hutt St Centre serves over 40,000 meals and offers support to nearly 2,000 people. Showers, laundry facilities, visiting health professionals, an aged city living program for their older clients, recreational activities, training and employment programs, legal aid and assistance with finding housing are all services provided to the 200 plus people challenged by homelessness who visit Hutt St Centre each day.The PartnersThough we have the absolute honour of selling the finished product, we can’t take responsibility for this vino. This is a community effort for community gain, from the winemakers doing the hard yards to our designer working on the label, to the volunteer mofos out picking grapes. Everyone played or will play a part in this and we give thanks to you all.But extra special thanks go to Jock Harvey of Chalk Hill for spearheading this project for the McLaren Vale community and donating grapes, and Ben Riggs of Mr Riggs for making the wine.YouYeah, you. You who jumped out of bed without much notice (hello fickle nature, we’re looking at you) and headed to a vineyard to spend some time with these homeless grapes. You who bought a case of a previous vintage and helped us do some good. You who shared that wine with friends and spread the message of Homeless Grapes. You, who upon reading this, will buy a case of this vintage and help make a difference. You, beautiful mofo, who is out there contributing to a better world. The GrapesWe’ll give you more info on the blocks picked and how the grapes are looking as vintage 2020 progresses. The WineWe’re selling the wine for $15 a bottle, which will be some fantastic value for a wicked Vale shiraz. Your money will be going straight to the Hutt St Centre. No middlemen at all.
