The Tate name is synonymous with Margaret River after John Tate helped create arguable the regions most well-known winery, Evans & Tate. Today, Franklin Tate has brought the Tate name back to life with new, exciting terroir driven wines. Franklin painstakingly selected the very best vineyard sites, those that held unique micro-sites within them to enable him to achieve his goal of producing some of the regions best wines. This Shiraz was picked at optimum ripeness and fermented with 10% whole bunch. French barriques were used in the fermentation process to give a softness to the palate, as was a small percentage of Viognier. The result is a great Margaret River Shiraz with grounded savoury notes along with ripeness and spicy lift.

Made for use as a communion wine, it is suitably soft, sweet and approachable.

This 2014 Rosabrook Cabernet Merlot is one of the Margaret River's signature wine styles. Great licks of black fruit from the Cabernet Sauvignon interlaced with the smooth plum characters on Merlot. It is a beautifully made wine with great balance and a lengthy finish. It will be great with meat dishes or even a cheese platter. Owned by Calneggia Family Vineyards, one of Margaret River's pioneering grape growers with winemaker legend Brian Fletcher pulling the winemaking levers.

Goundrey Unwooded Chardonnay is a bright and youthful Chardonnay that displays fresh varietal characters of melon and peach. Without the hindrance of oak, the vibrant, fresh fruit characters can be shown at their best.

The Alternate Series A new exciting range of small batch wines for Haselgrove. Showcasing McLaren Vales Mediterranean climate and the emerging varieties that excel in the region. The Grenache Rose & Fiano will be joined by a Montepulciano. Brilliant pale salmon in colour. Lifted bright fresh fruit notes, summer berries, aromatic rose blossom and delicate hints of blood orange. The palate demonstrates all of the hallmarks of what one of McLaren Vales champion varieties can do as a Rose. Strawberries and cream, Turkish delight and bright red berries balance with a bone dry, crisp, moreish acidity and a textural citrus pith finish. We challenge you to stop at only one glass!

Award winning wines have been the modus operandi for the Tate family since the mid-70s. That pedigree and know-how can be tasted in this bottle of hand crafted Margaret River Cabernet Merlot. Regional notes of bay leaf, eucalypt and dry, tannins are supported by a lush and vibrant blue and black fruit backbone that continues on the palate for what seems like a lifetime. Balanced and elegant tannins, nicely integrated oak, gives the wine balance and structure. Ø WINEMAKING Each parcel of fruit is gently crushed and transferred into small open fermenters. Heading down boards keep the cap submerged for better skin contact. The fermenters are temperature controlled to provide optimum conditions. Gentle extraction is achieved by the draining of wine from the skins and returning back over. Wine is then transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for maturation.
