Vines have flourished in the Luberon for hundreds of years with the grapes benefiting from the warmth of the Mediterranean climate whilst retaining a lovely fresh finish. Sam Wigan started out in the wine industry by working a vintage with his father at Peter Lehmann wines before heading to Geyser Peak in California. Returning to Australia with the winemaking bug, Sams style involves letting the varietal characteristics of the grapes shine through, by using natural/wild fermentation and malolactic fermentation, with minimal additions and no finings. Having a nice meal with friends and family is one of his favourite things, so he crafts the wines to be fun, drinkable and best enjoyed with food and good company. Grenache is Australias signature grape variety and were slightly obsessed with it. Utilising a range of premium vineyards across The Barossa and McLaren Vale regions of South Australia, Thistledown have crafted a wine that captures all that is good about Grenache. Aromatic, deceptively light but with beautiful wild fruit, and slurpy, supple tannins.

Mouton Cadet Select, is the result of the selection from the best parcels of highest terroirs across the Bordeaux region. Created in 1930, by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Mouton Cadet has become a standard-setter for Bordeaux wines in France and rapidly overseas. The nose initially reveals black cherry, very ripe red fruit notes, hints of mocha and spice. From a supple and voluptuous attack on attractive fruit, the mid-palate displays powerful flavours with forward red fruit, leading into a long and spicy finish.

This Estate was created in 1960, at the place known as Crès Ricards, in the village of Ceyras. In 2010 Jean-Claude Mas acquired the 27 ha (69 acres) belonging to the Château, extending the estate to 42 ha in 2013. He was fascinated by the fantastic terroir of the Terrasses du Larzac, which produces silky wines with intense flavors. At the foot of Mont Baudile, 35 km to the west of Montpellier, this vineyard offers a unique geography. Yields are low because of the strict grape selection and carbonic maceration is used to produce generous wines. Made from 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache and matured in new and older French oak for 10 months. The wine is at once full bodied and fresh, with notes of intense black currant, black cherry and mocha gliding to a silky, rich finish.

This Pinot Noir is cultivated in the heart of the French Ardèche region, vineyard marked by its cool climate and high altitude. Buis D'Aps is a locality in the town of Alba La Romaine, around which this Pinot Noir is grown, on clay-limestone soils. This cuvée is the fruit of rigorous work: limited yields, thinning at the start of summer, exclusively manual harvest. After a long maceration of 2 to 3 weeks, part of the harvest is aged in oak barrels. Fresh nose, seductive, very cherry, small catchy tannins well coated, floral finish, fresh vegetal, superb character. A beautiful discovery.

The Butchers Block is a traditional Barossa blend made with grapes selected from the Turkey Flat vineyards, including some from the original old vine plantings. It is a blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvédre (Mataro). 'Part of the grapes come from the home vineyard that has some of the oldest vines in the Barossa, planted by Peter Schulz's great-grandfather Ernest Schulz. The wine has the drive, focus and intensity often missing from this Barossa blend; that said, there are both black and distinctly red fruit components, and the tannins are firm. Give it 10 years, then line it up with a top Rhone Valley example. Outrageous value' - Rating 94/100. - James Halliday.

JEAN-PIERRE MOUEIX BORDEAUX rouge was inspired by the founders early mission: when Jean-Pierre Moueix launched his wine merchant business in 1937, he sought to offer eminently drinkable and enjoyable wines that reflect a sense of place. Personally selected by Christian and Edouard Moueix, the Merlot grape offers depth and complexity, while Cabernet Franc brings structure and spice to the blend. Combined, these varietals produce wines of character and body while maintaining a unique suppleness. The wine shows ruby red with an intense, complex nose presenting notes of cherry, strawberry and blond tobacco. The palate is powerful and inviting with smooth, silky tannins.

A copybook Provence rosé, from an historic site where wine was first produced by the Romans. The blend consists of grenache, syrah and cinsault. The grapes are harvested and handled as gently as possible. It's appearance is beautifully glossy with a pale peach robe and apricot accents. An elegant, floral and fruity bouquet prepares you for the ample, fruity and round flavours. An ideal wine to enjoy with a light salad or prosciutto and melon.
