Castillo Ygay Tempranillo from the famed Rioja region in Spain was one of the stars of the show at the recent Dan Murphy's Wines of the World Expo! Complex roasted chestnut/mocha/dark berry/leather fruit with superb richness, underlying savoury nuances and ripe chocolaty tannins. Although matured for 31 months in American oak, the oak and fruit integration is sublime.

Marqués de Riscal began with a dream back in 1858 and over 150 years later, the Bodega decided to commemorate the 150th Anniversary with a Gran Reserva Rioja that befitted the history and standing of such great wines. The result it this outstanding Tempranillo blend from the 2001 vintage, a truly special vintage in the Rioja region. Dark cherry in colour with complex aromas of balsamic, charred wood and layers of spices. The palate follows with a viscous mouthfeel with a good concentration of tannins and acid structure. A truly remarkable Rioja that pays a great tribute.

There are minuscule volumes produced of the Cirsion by Bodegas Roda (the name of the thistle which is Roda's logo) which is made from grapes specially selected for the suppleness of the tannins they deliver. Parcels selected are from low-yielding older Tempranillo vines of 45 years and more, from four vineyards. Choosing the plants with the softest tannins, this makes the wine very attractive and supple early on, but it still has great ageing potential.

"Scuro" is a blend of Sangiovese and Shiraz from our Dark Horse Vineyard, co-harvested and co-fermented. Scuro (meaning "Dark") is named for both its Italian roots and for the impressive dark colour that took us by surprise during fermentation. Extended maturation in French Oak Hogsheads has resulted in a powerful and generous wine with a deep ruby hue, rich palate and great cellaring potential. Badiola is a winery in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Founded in 2018 by acquiring an existing winery, Badiola offers village and single vineyard wines that display the freshness, elegance and depth of flavours which distinguish Rioja Alavesa. Made from the high quality, low-yielding grapes from hillside (Laderas) vines on limestone soils this is a very versatile satisfying drinking wine and a great example of cooler climate Tempranillo from Rioja Alavesa.

This wine is elegant with considerable finesse, nuanced rose petal, blueberry, wild strawberry, vanilla, ground clove, graphite, and Marjoram. Al dente tannins

This Rioja wine has a wonderfully fruity palate, with dense black fruit flavours. On the nose a blend of toasted wood and hints of spice, combined with notes of candied red fruit and hints of liquorice.

Grape: Grenache and Tempranillo - Alc.Vol: 14% Cherry with violet tones. Red fruits such as strawberry and blackberry stand out, as well as dairy and mineral notes. It is fresh and pleasant with a black liquorice finish. A young wine with great body, structure and aromas. Excellent to accompany all kinds of foods, especially meats, pasta, legumes etc.
