Mrs Q Series Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

For over 20 years, John Quarisa has worked as a winemaker for some of the most recognisable wineries in Australia. During his time at Casella, he was instrumental in securing them the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy in 2004. John has since branched out to create a range of wines that bear his family name. This particular range, named after his wife Josephine Quarisa, features this outstanding Coonawarra Cabernet, which over a couple of vintages has picked up several Golds. This one has two, something Mrs Q must be stoked about.

Mystery Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Deal No. 03

Bright crimson red with bright purple hues. Lifted aromatic and varietal wine, showing blueberry and blackcurrant fruits, along with hints of violet and flowering thyme aromatics. The palate has fresh blue and dark berry fruit flavours, floral herb characters, along with hints of cocoa and cedary oak. It is medium bodied and flows through the palate with a nice line of fine tannin and has a good persistence of fruit.

John Riddoch (1827 - 1901) is the man responsible for putting Coonawarra on the map after establishing the Coonawarra Fruit Colony in 1891. Today, Coonawarra and its famous 'terra rossa' strip of limestone rich soil is home to some of Australia's greatest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. This Riddoch Cabernet is an exciting expression of the region with its deep purple colour, spicy plum, chocolate and toasty vanillan aromas which are followed by a luscious palate of blueberry and accompanying eucalypt accented spice.
