Elio Grasso Langhe Nebbiolo Gavarini

Elio Grassos Langhe Nebbiolo is a contemporary expression of Nebbiolo designed to create a more approachable style for drinking over the first 5 years of its life. The fruit comes from a south-facing 1.2 ha plot of slightly younger vines within the Gavarini vineyard, 350-380 meters above sea level, on relatively loose-packed, calcareous soil. Driven by rigorous attention to detail in the vineyard and picking at optimum phenolic maturity, the Grasso style is underscored by immaculate winemaking. The Langhe Nebbiolo is fermented in stainless steel and typically spends 20 days on skins, followed by 6-8 months maturation in stainless steel tanks. Micro-oxygenation is used judiciously for a softer mouthfeel.

Fletcher Wines

Giaconda Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo has long been a fancy of Rick Kinzbrunner and recently he grafted over half a hectare of Pinot Noir vines to the iconic Italian varietal. Rick gives this wine every opportunity to be shown at its best by maturing the rich and concentrated red in traditional large format Italian made Bota casks for a staggering 42 months! The result is a wine that displays a lifted and aromatic nose of violets and tar (synonymous with the variety) which is then followed by a palate that is both silken and powerful. That tannins are present in a somewhat refined fashion which helps give this extraordinary wine the long length is possesses.

Mountainside Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo has integrated French oak which has produced a finely structured wine that is light ruby in colour and displays fresh cherry and raspberry aromas and flavours.  The wine has a long clean finish and we recommend decanting before drinking.  Bottled in March this year the wine promises to continue developing in the bottle.

Massolino Barolo

First produced in 1911. The fruit for Massolino's classic Nebbiolo cuvée is selected from seven sites, representing roughly seven hectares of prime-sited Serralunga vineyards. The oldest vines that feed this bottling are 55 years old (the youngest are 10), and it spends 24 months in large Slovenian oak (only).

Brezza Sarmassa Barolo

Considered the king of all Italian varietals, Nebbiolo is at home in the Barolo sub-region of Piedmont. Known for producing bold and tannic rich red wines that have a propensity to age for what seems a lifetime. The Brezza Barolo shows leather and tar aromas with deep, dark fruit nuances that are mirrored on the palate that has an extraordinary length of flavour. Will be shown at its best served from a decanter and alongside a rich meal.

Albino Rocca Barbaresco

The Estate produces just 900 cases of this succulent, dark cherry and anise-scented Barbaresco. Like all of the Rocca family's Barbaresco, this is a single cru wine. It hails from a south facing, single site in a cru called Montersino (in the Treiso commune). One day it may well be labelled according to its cru. The altitude here is 310 metres and the soil is a mixture of clay and limestone. It's 100 per cent Nebbiolo of course, from another super vintage, and matured exclusively in large, 20 hectolitre, Austrian coopered Botti for two years. Succulent, pure and meticulously crafted, there is a wonderful core of dark cherry, lavender and tobacco scented fruit and fine structure to balance the fleshy texture. Nebbiolo in all its atmospheric glory.

Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo D'Alba

In 1904 a co-operative winery called Ai Vino Delle Langhe was founded and a young man who worked there was Alfred Prunotto. Prunotto took over the estate in 1922, giving it his own name and today it is run under the umbrella of the famous Marchesi Antinori family. Located in Alba the estate tends around 50 hectares of vineyards throughout the Langhe and Monferrato. This Nebbiolo is a ruby red of good intensity tending towards garnet. Elegant in aroma with notes of raspberries, roses, and liquorice, full and balanced in flavour with a lengthy after taste. The Nebbiolo Occhetti, being such a round and elegant wine, is very versatile and a perfect match for hot antipasti, first courses and light meat dishes.
