Winemaker's Selection Vat 1 Semillon only ever comes from the oldest and best blocks. The vines are all dry grown on their own roots, and date back to 1923.

The white 2020 La Pell Blanco Parcela el Vinyet is crafted from a 1.41-hectare vineyard planted in 1889, featuring a unique field blend of over ten grape varieties, including Trobat Blanc, Hebén, Sumoll Blanc, Macabeu, Xarel.lo, and more. The grapes, harvested at three different ripeness stages, were destemmed, barely crushed, and fermented with skins in clay tinajas for four months, undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wine matured in a tinaja, a 500-liter acacia barrel, and glass demijohns, some developing a flor yeast layer. The result is a delicate, floral, and distinctly Mediterranean wine with notes of underbrush and fennel. It offers moderate ripeness and alcohol, showcasing complexity, elegance, and freshness with very tasty flavors and an almost salty finish. Initially there are citrus notes,lemon and grapefruit, but then riper characters, more suggestive of melon, pear and driedapricot quickly become the dominant players. The palate is rich, concentrated and textured.There are flavours of lychee, ripe pear, apricot and blackcurrant leaf. The palate is defined bypersistent acid, chalky phenolics and a long, persistent finish.

Each year the wine is made it is labelled according to the last two digits of the vintage -- hence Reserve Bin 10A, 12A, 13A and so on. Fruit is hand-picked to small bins and whole-bunch pressed. A portion of the juice is incrementally filled to barrel directly from the press and allowed to undergo a natural fermentation. Thus ...every new (40%) and seasoned (one or two-year-old) French oak barrique is its own, unique 225-litre ferment. Enhanced mouthfeel and complexity is achieved by maturation (typically for eight months) on solids, with intermittent yeast lees stirring. The 100% malolactic fermentation is also natural. Reserve Bin A has established a strong following since it was first made in 1994. It is a fresh, minerally style that occupies a place in the vanguard of modern Australian Chardonnay. Graacher Himmelreich is a renowned vineyard that borders the southern edge of its more famous neighbour Wehlener Sonnenuhr. The Spatlese examples typically show lime and lemon sherbety aromas with savoury and honeyed overtones and pronounced slately minerality carried along by signature Mosel racy acidity.

Olivier Leflaive was co-manager of Domaine Leflaive until 1994 before withdrawing to concentrate on his own venture which he started in 1985. Today the domaine produces wine from some 65 appellations with 85% of the production being white wine. One of Burgundys most respected producers the estate produces a number of domaine wines from its own vineyards alongside its range of negocé bottlings. This Chardonnay is a wine with a fine aromatic intensity of almond, hazelnut, apple and a nice balance between smoothness and freshness on the palate.
