Made with 100% Chenin blanc, this is a dry expression of sparkling Vouvray. The nose is very typical of the Chenin Blanc grape with delicate notes of apricot, honey and quince with soft fruit flavours and minerality on the finish.

A cracking aromatic white blend that bursts with citrus, green herbs, with slight honeyed notes. The palate is bright but with time spent on lees it has built some weight and texture without compromising flavour. A vibrant fruit palate is balanced by a well judged line of acidity. This is a very satisfying and fuller flavoured fresh white wine, perfect with light seafood dishes or even roast pork belly with creamy mash.

We all recognise that this most Northern Cru bears a name which is gentle to the ear and to the heart. It is the wine of poets and lovers. If it did not exist, life would be a little less charming. The village of Saint Amour gives its name to this wine. Produced from a 47 year old gamay vineyard, this wine impresses with wonderful complexity and supple, rich and smooth flavours.

“The residual sugar is 90 g/l, says Jean-Bernard Berthomé. The aromatics, despite the vintage’s reputation as a heatwave year, are spot on. This is classic evolving première tri Vouvray, a melange of limestone minerals drizzled with a a sweet honey caramel, intertwined with a wonderful citrus freshness and lift. It seems delightfully promising. The palate, I am happy to report, follows on from this first impression quite beautifully, the fruit and minerals resting on a bed of sweet caramel, and although this is not a vintage rich in botrytis I do detect a little note here too. The wine as a whole maintains a very fine balance too throughout. A very impressive, broad, imposing wine with a long and cleanly balanced finish. Lifted Aromas of honeysuckle, pear and quince. The palate is lively and textural with pear juice and ginger flavour’s and a crisp acid finish.
