This is the sixth release of this wine and it's richness is again on display. This is rich, ripe, Hills shiraz looking a lot like the 'Vales. Black and blue fruits dominate with a hint of eucalypt and a palate supported by 20% brand new Frenach oak. A very classy wine that demands decanting to enjoy now but will offer improvement over the next 10-20 years.

Made from a single site on the Southern Range in the Adelaide Hills, the exceptional 96pt Loom Long Yarn Shiraz certainly impressed the judges at the Royal Queensland Wine Awards where it took home a Top Gold. If we’re honest, there’s not a single reason that we don’t love Sidewood. They’re far from being one-trick ponies (although everyone can find a favourite in their range). Whether it be sensational sparkling, succulent sauvignon blanc, perfect pinot noir, or shining chardonnay. This time, the spotlight is on the shiraz. Selected fruit, estate crafted, 100% french oak treatment through fermentation and 15 months maturation, before final barrel selection is undergone. No stone left unturned, no drop of wine slips by without quality assured. To simply say this overdelivers doesn’t do it justice: this excels in its own category and ones above.

Tucked away nicely in the Adelaide Hills, Sidewood Estate have made an art form out of crafting some of the very best single vineyard cool-climate wines available in Australia. Owen and Cassandra Inglis purchased the boutique property in 2004 and immediately set about making their vision become a reality. Their Sidewood Shiraz displays that vision to perfection. Attention to detail is the key here which enables flavours of red cherry, currants and dark plum to shine through along with hints of cinnamon and spice. The texture is beguiling and gives promise to a wine that will age for up to a decade.
