Lane Vineyard Reunion Shiraz

Golden Child Turning Point Syrah

The 2018 vintage of Turning Point Syrah from Golden Child has a medium bodied wine with heaps of spice and pretty aromatics. Aromas of plums, red currants, and green peppercorns across the nose. A fine balance of fruit and savoury spice through the palate with blueberries and tangy cranberry. The tannins are starting to mellow a little, and some secondary dried herb characters are beginning to emerge. Plenty of life in this wine. Golden Child Wines is a collaboration between grape grower David Hamilton and winemaker James. Their grapes are grown sustainably in the Kuitpo sub-region of the Adelaide Hills (no synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fertilisers). Their wines are made using natural yeast fermentation and are bottled with minimal additives. Golden Child wines are 100% vegan friendly.

Sidewood Estate Shiraz

If we’re honest, there’s not a single reason that we don’t love Sidewood. They’re far from being one-trick ponies (although everyone can find a favourite in their range). Whether it be sensational sparkling, succulent sauvignon blanc, perfect pinot noir, or shining chardonnay. This time, the spotlight is on the shiraz. Selected fruit, estate crafted, 100% french oak treatment through fermentation and 15 months maturation, before final barrel selection is undergone. No stone left unturned, no drop of wine slips by without quality assured. To simply say this overdelivers doesn’t do it justice: this excels in its own category and ones above.

Two in the Bush Shiraz

Previous winner of the Decanter World Wine Awards Trophy Award for best Australian Shiraz under $20. This wine is deep red in colour with dark purple hues. It exhibits intense aromas of plum, blackberries and fruit cake. The palate displays cool climate pepper, together with rich raspberry and liquorice characteristics. It has fine tannin and a long elegant finish.

Anderson Hill O Series Shiraz

Campbell Mattinson Meaty and spicy with black cherry and plum flavours rumbling throughout. The tannin feels dry and sturdy, the fruit brooding and dark, but the floral and sweet meat characters here lend it both a prettiness and a touch of the exotic.

Sidewood Mappinga Shiraz

This complex and elegant wine has lifted aromas of fresh rich red fruits and white mint chocolate. Strawberries, raspberries, dark cherries and blackcurrants are the base of this wine but has depth in texture and flavour are given by rich tannins and subtle spice from ageing in French oak. Well matched to heavier weight dishes - veal and beef based. Also perfect with hard cheeses and aged cheddar.
