A savoury spicy blend aged in seasoned oak. The nose shows plum, raspberry and tarry aromas and the medium bodied palate displays blackberry licorice and rich earthy flavours with fine, supple tannins.

Kalleske Old Vine Grenache, Barossa Valley The Kalleske family makes their Old Vine Grenache in the Barossa Valley, where they have been farming and growing grapes since the 1800s. Yet this old Barossa family have been cited by Max Allen in 2010 as a model for the future of the Barossa. Estate grown, vinified and matured on the Kalleske Greenock estate, the Old Vine Grenache is made from a single vineyard planted in 1935 as bush vines on the Kalleske farm. The shallow sand and light clay ensure that these dry-grown grapes are intensely flavoured fruit.

Producing only genuinely Estate wines, Greenock Creek is the lifelong labour of Michael & Annabelle Waugh. These wines are typically full of intense Barossan power, often paired with the heat to boot. From Kym Teusner, one of Australias most iconic winemakers right now, this exceptional Shiraz Mataro drinks like twice the price. If you didnt know in a blind tasting that it was a $30 wine, youd be quite happy paying $40 or $50. The Shiraz leads with loads of really beautiful, bold, opulent fruit thats typical of the Barossa, while the Mataro sits in the background, plumping up the tannins like a Cabernet, to add definition and structural balance. The two are just working together so well and thats why we simply couldnt deny this wine the best of the best. Simply superb!

Langtons is proud to be first to market with the inaugural vintage of this Riesling, a selection from a very special part of the famous Contours vineyard. When it comes to Eden Valley Riesling, no name is greater than the Langtons Classified Contours Riesling from Pewsey Vale. The Contours vineyard was first planted in 1841, but the distinctive site we know today -- with vines planted along the contours of an Eden Valley hillside rather than in straight rows -- dates from the 1960s. From 1961 in fact, and this new wine comes from a single block of the oldest vines, planted in that year on a north-facing slope. The Contours Riesling is released with five years of bottle age. This new wine -- although almost equally ageworthy -- is a more approachable style and therefore suitable for release (like most other Rieslings) in the year following vintage. For many (or most) the 1961 Block Riesling will be indistinguishable from The Contours. The value here is obvious.
