Langton's Classified Excellent WIN an Exceptional wine cellar* worth more than $10k The Keyneton Euphonium epitomises the Henschke winemaking style. Typically this elegantly proportioned wine shows ripe dark berry, dried herb spicy aromas, plush concentrated flavours, velvety textures and long sinuous finish. The wine is a Shiraz dominant blend with minor components of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the Eden and Barossa Valleys. It is named after the Barossa Hills village of Keyneton, the centre of the Henschke familys cultural and working life for over 150 years. Maturation takes place in a small proportion of new oak hogsheads with the remainder seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 18 months. "The Euphonium moniker was first introduced with the 2006 vintage.

Glaetzer The Bishop Shiraz, Barossa Valley Bishop is the family name of Colin's wife' Judith. Fittingly the sign of Venus, a symbol which has come to represent women and feminine energy, is the centrepiece of the Bishop label. Exceptional old vine fruit was sourced from the famed Ebenezer sub-district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Vine age 35120 years old. Yield 3 tonnes per hectare.

The site where the Langmeil winery now sits was originally settled by Blacksmith Christian Auricht way back in 1842. Christian went on to establish a bakery, smithy, a butcher's shop and a cobbler as well as planting a 1 hectare vineyard on the estate. This vineyard, still in use today, has been called the Freedom 1843 block and is believed to be one of the oldest Shiraz vineyards in the world. Flash forward 160+ years and the Langmeil winery and vineyard is back in family hands, with Carl Lindner, Richard Lindner and Chris Bitter now owning this historic Barossan estate. Like many Barossan estates with a bent for traditional full bodied reds, Langmeil prefers open fermenters and basket presses, utilising these fabulously archaic methods for over half its grape intake of approximately 1000 tonnes. In a similar vein, the wines are only minimally handled and minimally filtered before bottling in an attempt to preserve natural flavour and complexity.

A gem-like and shimmeringly scented aroma of glittering, glimmering, glistening purity, poise and incandescence; lime blossom and honey suckle flower intensity is as pure as it is invigorating. The fruit for this is sourced from a southern Barossa Vineyard with limestone based soils. The wine is made using natural acid and indigenous yeasts and is unfiltered. This vineyard is a single cordon vineyard at 450 m above sea level. The low yielding old vines produce a fruit that is dense, dark and concentrated in its flavour.Traditional winemaking techniques including hand plunged open fermenters were used to extract the best from the fruit. Post ferment the wine was pressed off and entombed in French and American for a period of 12 months. The wine received minimal intervention from this point.A tight structured wine with layers of complex fruits, full round mouthfeel, fine approachable tannins and good length. Whilst closed on the nose when initially opened the wine benefits from decanting and time to breath.True to its roots this is a ripe, rich, full flavoured Barossa Shiraz.The bottled result is a wine personifies the GISA philosophy.
