Rockbare has only been making wine since 2000, but the results have been impressive and this wine was the highest scoring Shiraz in the Tasting Panel in 2018. In the glass: Inky dense red to black.On the nose: Super-ripe black cherry cola with amazing spice, cedar, vanilla and nutmeg. On the palate: Massive, densely-packed, perfectly ripe black fruits producing a flavour-saturated fruit package over phenomenal inky tannins.

McLaren Vale reds are known for generosity of fruit. Red Knot Cabernet, with it's cassis, dark berried characters and a lingering finish, has the added bonus of being terrific value for money.

d'Arenberg The Footbolt Shiraz is a firm favourite with many McLaren Vale Shiraz lovers and for good reason. This is another great example of the rich, full-bodied style with aromas of ripe blackberry and spice that mingle with minty peppery notes. The palate is full-flavoured, supple in texture with a velvety finish.

A much-loved South Aussie red, this blended red is rich in black fruits that fill the mouth. Raspberry, red currant and plum fruits are balanced with fine sandy tannins and cedar oak. This medium to full bodied wine has a lovely balance and style in true Church Block character. Church Block was the first wine the late Greg Trott produced under the Wirra Wirra label back in 1972. He took the name from one of the original vineyards, which runs next to the small Bethany Church (Est 1854) across the road from Wirra Wirras century old ironstone cellars. A deep purple in colour with ruby hues. The nose exudes aromas of fresh blackcurrant, cassis and tobacco leaf. The palate is rich in blackcurrants and ripe red berry flavours with fine-grained tannins blending seamlessly with the fresh lifted fruit flavours. It's medium body and elegant acid structure lends a lovely balance and complexity.

Planted in the late 19th century, the High Trellis vineyard was the first d'Arenberg vineyard to be trained above knee height. For the past four decades, a Cabernet Sauvignon has been produced from the vineyard to critical acclaim, even winning the Jimmy Watson trophy in 1969. Something that d'Arry reminds current winemaker, and son, Chester about often!

Penny's Hill Cracking Black Shiraz continues to be what all McLaren Vale Shiraz should be. Deliciously intense, with all its components looking their best and beautifully synchronised. There's lengthy concentrated blackberry fruit, liquorice and pepper. Superb!

The Greeks first made Rose 26 centuries ago when they settled in Provence, the oldest wine growing region in France. The light colour of Rose is a result of the short amount of time the grape and skins stay in contact after being crushed. Today, hundreds of years later, Rose continues to gain popularity, and regions like Mclaren Vale are now producing outstanding medal winning Roses like this one! Shingleback Haycutters Salmon Rose, Gold Medal National Wine Show of Australia 2017. Aromas of freshly picked summer raspberries and strawberries are pierced with fragrant lemon rind. Nuances of rose petals and a hint of dusty minerality tease the senses. A compote of red berry flavours flows over the finely textured palate which is defined by a lingering acidity and savoury moreishness. Plush, rich blackberries and plums with a raspberry like acidity and wonderfully soft tannins. There's a good lick of oak but nothing distracting, a hint of eucalypt but it stops short of menthol. This wine's time in the cellar has done it absolute wonders - soft, smooth, silky, yet powerful, plush and ripe. A great wine from one of McLaren Vale's greatest producers.
