A blend of Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah. Deep black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Attractive scents of dark raspberry, provincial herbs and liquorice drift from the glass followed by hints of incense and peppered earth characters. Spicy dark raspberry and liquorice flavours flesh out nicely across the mid weighted palate with infusions of incense and earth lying underneath. Brilliant very pale straw almost water like colour with greenish tinged edges. Aromas of nectarine and pear are intermeshed with hints of lime, green apple and subtle biscuity oak. Rich fleshy peach, ripe nectarine and subtle dried honey flavours are delivered with good intensity over a back drop of cashew and light spicy nougat elements. The 2017 Moonambel Shiraz is eminently balanced and refined on the nose, with blood, minerals and flowers in equal measure. This is super composed, balanced and, as far as wine drinking pleasure goes, a triumph.
