Finca Beltrán Torrontés
Don’t know Torrontés? This really is a white to try. Founded in 1963, Zuccardi is the most highly awarded winery in Argentina. It was originally set up to illustrate a new method of irrigation that founder Alberto Zuccardi had invented. Today it is run by the second and third generations – José Alberto Zuccardi, given a Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering work, as well as the the ‘Legend Winemaker’ prize from Tim Atkin MW, while his son Sebastián, was named Decanter’s Top Winemaker of South America. “Zuccardi keeps going from strength to strength with their top-level wines” wrote Wine Advocate, while Tim Atkin MW declared, “The quality of the wines ... has never been better … great wines, not just of south America, but the world”. Finca Beltran Torrontés is crisp, aromatic, fresh, with citrus & minerality.
Jim Barry Eastern Ranges Clare Valley Malbec
Clare Valley’s Jim Barry is a name known around the world – a byword for quality and wine expertise. A founding member of Australia’s First Families of Wine, the Barry family celebrated the 60th anniversary of its winery in 2020, the year it also scooped the title of Halliday’s ‘Winery of the Year’. Over three generations the Barry name has been famous throughout the wine world and synonymous with the Clare Valley. Jim Barry bought his first vineyard here in 1959, and even helped the Taylor family open their winery a decade later. Son Peter took over Jim Barry in 1985, and today brothers Tom and Sam, with sister Olivia, have raised the bar even higher. Tom and Sam have been shortlisted for Halliday's Winemaker of the Year 2026. This is a new exclusive, a succulent Malbec from the Clare Valley's high altitude Eastern Ranges.
Mach 2T Malbec
The first time we saw this funky little label it was showcasing a plush, aromatic Malbec. It’s back, and there’ll be plenty who will welcome it fondly! The name? Somewhat academic but a Mach number is defined as the ratio of two speeds. An aircraft travelling at Mach 2 is going twice the speed of sound, which itself is affected by composition and temperature. Dig a little deeper and you'll come across terms such as 'compressible flow' ... and if you're someone who is more interested in the social side of wine enjoyment rather than the science behind it, you'll probably be wanting to stop reading and pour yourself a glass of this juicy and very delicious Malbec showing swathes of fruit to coat your tastebuds.
Shadowfax Minnow Rose
Very pale salmon, some light red hues. Red fruits, raspberry, cranberry, a touch of liquorice, some light spice and earth. Pinot Noir is apparent on the front palate, with berries, fluffy talc and crystalline texture. The Grenache brings weight through the middle, a riot of red fruits and tarry spice. Mourvèdre fills the rear, with lovely fine extract framing the palate and adding length. A harmonious and very fine Minnow Rosé by Shadowfax: complex, dry and delicious.
Pizzini Nonna Gisella
Named after Alfred Pizzini's grandmother, this is a medium bodied Sangiovese - warm and humble just like its namesake. Aromas of lightly spiced plums and cherries lead to hints of chocolate, leather and lovely savoury characters. The palate is generous and full flavoured with good length, soft tannins and flavours of plums and cherries.
S C Pannell McLaren Vale Tanino
Super tasty Malbec dominant blend is another shining example of why Steve Pannell is rightly lauded as one of the world's greatest wine makers. The additional splashes of Shiraz, Touriga and the exotic Tinata Cao come together beautifully and result in a fleshy & juicy drink that packs a punch and is perfect paired up with anything you can put your hands on to throw on the BBQ. Built for good time drinking.

From Orange in NSW, this Shiraz is a good introduction to the qualities of this emerging area. It shows aromas of plum and spices and the palate is all about the fruit with little intrusive oak.
