Bright and taut yet also textural thanks to garnacha’s fruit qualities and bobal’s rounded yet determined tannins. At one sip it is raspberry coulis, the next sip plum jam, another sip and there springs forward wild rabbit slowly stewed with prunes and thyme. A quietly rich palate, but the ever-present tannins and the lick of acidity guarantee dignity..

This is a wine proudly displaying its regional origins, rippling with the textbook dark fruit, spearmint, licorice and ironstone characters that define the region’s best cabernet based blends. It’s fine framed and nicely poised, lots of lively red fruits and a bright juiciness to the palate. Gently grippy, tightly wound tannins provide impressive length.

Deep red colour as is the norm with the wines from the Gaelic Cemetery Vineyard. This wine possesses intense blackcurrant / redcurrant and mulberry-like aromas along with some subtle cedary notes. The palate is warm, firm and structured, but retains the elegance that we expect to see in Cabernet based wines from Clare. It will take several years in the cellar to reveal its undoubted potential.
