Where the Penfolds California journey began - a narrative that now spans three decades where Penfolds imported a heritage selection of vine cuttings from South Australia’s esteemed Kalimna and Magill Estate vineyards, planting them in Californian soil. Bin 600 redefines the classic Australian blend of Cabernet and Shiraz through a Californian lens.

Kevin McKay’s aim is to focus attention to detail and build complexity into his wines from the ground up. As he says,“We want our wines to consistently reflect the premium fruit grown in the Margaret River region.” This expressive Shiraz delivers all that – and more! Perfumed with spice, pepper, chocolate, plum and boysenberry with underlying violet notes and cedary oak richness.

Forester Estate is owned by Vignerons Kevin and Jenny McKay. It’s situated in Yallingup, in the northern Margaret River region. Kevin’s motto is to build complexity and texture into his wines literally from the ground up! The superb wines are made by Todd Payne who has had “a distinguished career, starting in the Great Southern, then the Napa, Plantagenet, Esk Valley in Hawke’s Bay, and on to the Northern Rhône” (Halliday). This is a beautifully expressive wine. Inky, rich and herbal Cabernet melds with plummy, velvety, mouthfilling Merlot to create a really layered and complex wine you want to keep on sipping.

Mullet wines deliver bolder ripe fruit flavours up front with a bigger body and mouthfeel driving a big, long finish. Or like any great mullet, it’s business at the front, party at the back. Hand-crafted and purpose built, these are wines doing all they can to be big on flavour and big on drinkability. Mullet wines putting good times and enjoyment above all else! Bold aroma’s of blackcurrant fruit with black plum and woody spice. This has the hallmark of riper Cabernet wines, being bold in the beginning and bold to the end. Winemaker notes Colour: Deep crimson Bouquet: Brooding blackberry, mulberry, dark chocolate and cedar aromas typify the aromatic profile of this reserve style. Palate: The palate is rich and powerful showing generous redcurrant, mulberry and dark chocolate flavours. A soft and supple backbone of tannin gives this Cabernet a long and precise evolution through the palate. Viticulture Grown on the Wildberry Estate vineyard this parcel of fruit enjoys one of the more sought-after addresses for Cabernet Sauvignon not only in Australia but also in a global sense. Wilyabrup has rapidly gained a global reputation as one of the best places to grow Cabernet in the world and the Wildberry Vineyard with its free draining gravelly soils and north facing aspect deliver a unique viticultural environment in which to grow premium Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaking Carefully selected fruit is delivered to the winery where it was crushed and destemmed to a static fermenter. Selected yeast is added and a controlled fermentation was conducted over a 18 day period. During fermentation the wine is pumped over the skins twice a day to facilitate colour and tannin extraction. A period of post fermentation maceration on-skins has been employed for this batch to further ameliorate and soften the tannin profile of this wine. Following fermentation the wine is matured in approximately 25% new and a selection of one and two year old French oak barriques. Following maturation the wine is assembled before a gentle filtration prior to bottling.

Indulge in the bold elegance of Wild Duck Creek Ducks & Drakes Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, a 750mL masterpiece from Heathcote, Victoria. Sourced entirely from the northern vineyards at Colbinabbin, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted by the family-run Wild Duck Creek Estate, known for its cult status since its first release in 1991. The grapes are fully destemmed, fermented in open fermenters with gentle hand-plunging, and matured for 22 months in French and American oak hogsheads (30% new), yielding a vivid red hue. The nose lifts with black fruits, tobacco, and graphite, while the palate is rich with blackberry liqueur, bay leaf, and olive tapenade, wrapped in layers of fine Cabernet tannins. Rated 93 points by Wine Front for its “beautifully integrated oak,” this full-bodied, luscious wine pairs perfectly with oregano lamb cutlets or can cellar for 15 plus years. A collector’s gem embodying Heathcote’s distinctive terroir.
