Krondorf is a Barossa wine name that is steeped in history and tradition. Beginning with the establishment of the Glenview winery back in 1850s, the Krondorf name was re-born by Grant Burge back in 1978 and today is one of the most successful wineries on the wine show circuit winning countless trophies and gold medals in the past 10 years. This Chardonnay is a bright straw colour with hints of golden yellow, while on the nose aromas of melon and citrus typical of the varietal are present. The long and persistent palate is wonderfully textured and a great match for some smoked trout.

This wine is made from Albariño grapes carefully grown in the vineyards at Val do Salnés (valley of the salterns) in Galicia, where most vineyards and wineries congregate under the Denominación de Origen Rías Baixas. The Garnacha Blanca is from Clos Ibai’s young vines, planted in 2014 and sitting at 400m elevation on the clay/limestone soils of Baños de Ebro. These vines are now certified organic. Grapes were hand-picked, and whole-clusters were pressed to stainless steel for fermentation. Maturation was for eight months in inox tanks on lees.

A straw colour compliments the intense pear aromas with peach and melon notes. A textured palate with sweet rounded ripe stone fruit flavours and a touch of spice.
