This Semillon from a sustainably farmed vineyard in the Hunter Valley region was hand picked from 40 year old Semillon vines. The grapes were then fermented with skins, pressed, and barrel aged for 3 months in old Chardonnay French oak. There was no additions, fining or filtration of the wine when bottled. The result is a textural, juicy wine with a zesty dry finish, with flavours of mandarin marmalade and a hint of lemon.

Fermentation in new French oak barriques using natural yeast provided Margan White Label Chardonnay its pale lemon colour. The wine's bouquet is a compilation of white nectarine, grapefruit, struck match and cedar spice aromas. The palate of this modern Australian Chardonnay is lush with flavours of green apple, white peach and flint. Subtle influences of oak and sharp acidity give line and length to the finish. This white varietal can be enjoyed with crispy pork belly or mushroom risotto.

The Italian grape, Fiano, is one of Australia's key alternate grape varieties. It is perfectly suited to the climate of the Hunter Valley. Tulloch Verdelho is an exciting aromatic white that was harvested at night to retain the fresh natural acidity found in the quality fruit. The wine itself has honeydew melon notes with a real citrus blossom lift. The long, engaging palate has a real zest to it with a fine acid backbone treating the drinker with a long, crisp finish.

Entirely sourced from Tyrrell's famous HVD vineyard. These dry grown blocks were planted in 1984 and 2003 and together they produce a modern style that has both richness and finesse.

The intention with this wine is to deliver a modern style of Hunter Semillon which offers outstanding early drinking appeal in combination with an ability to age over the short to medium term. The frame is still fine, but the flavours are more generous. Try with Sydney Rock Oysters!

Subtle aromas of vanillin oak and melon, with a hint of green pear. Oak and fruit are well balanced. A rich fruit palate combines with a creamy texture from the French Oak treatment. The aftertaste is clean, with lingering peach flavours. Drinks well now, but will continue to improve with 3-4 years further cellaring.
